Chapter 170.9: Mystery of the Dragon king part 2
“Humans are stupid. Humans are a race that will not hesitate to control others. They feel pleasure in doing so but that doesn’t mean that we can just destroy them. We must watch over and sort them.”
Dostoevsky, the old grey dragon had three other dragons in front if him.
The Black Dragon Carpent Ze Bach
The Red Draon Hardy Du Stein Van Gogh
The White Dragon Tinker Gwin Bell Beksinsky
“Sort them?”
Carpent, one of the three great dragons asked.
“There are those that plan to do wrong, those that do not die and those that invade our world.”
“But will humans eventually destroy themselves? I don’t think that will happen, wouldn’t it be much quicker for me to just kill them?”
Hardy didn’t seem to agree with the kings opinion.
“Hardy! Watch what you say to the king!”
The black dragon Carpent held great respect for the Dragon king. After that the only female dragon there, the white dragon Tinker, spoke.
“My king, I can’t forgive the humans. I have learned so much since you saved me on the day that I lost my family. But I still cannot forget that day.”
Tinker had a dark past.
“Tinker, all you can do is endure. Dragons are powerful and if you wanted you would be able to kill the human, cause the world to collapse. But that is why we must find another way, it is easy to just kill humans.”
“My king, humans betray others. Even if we reached out to them they would not understand!”
“That’s enough Tinker. If you try and destroy the humans then the balance of the world will be lost. That means that ‘they’ will appear. The observers can sense the signs and will appear to prevent the collapse of that stability. We might be the strongest species but we are still no match for the observers. If you remain over confident then you will only destroy yourself.”
Dostoevsky worried about Tinker and wanted her to live happily without being bogged down by the need for revenge. The dragon king thought of the world as his child just as he did the three great dragons. After their conversation the dragon king’s eyes slowly closed.
“I’m a little tired….. I’m going to sleep for a while.”
“My king….”
The life of a dragon always ends unexpectedly and often times even the dragon themselves don’t know that it is coming. The black dragon was afraid that this is where they would be parting.
“I will always be watching over you three. Do not forget what I have said. Do not become arrogant, if you do that will surely be the death of you. I have seen the end of the world, that person was swallowed up in their own power.”
The dragon king’s power slowly began to fade.
“He was stupid, and unhappy but I could sympathize with him.”
The king could sympathize with that person and wanted to save them.
“But even so…”
The demon kings words were cut off but this was normal for dragons as the end of their lives usually came rather suddenly. The king had begun his farewell, he squeezed out the last of his power to say goodbye to the three great dragons.
“I…… hate…..Humans…”
“………Huh?”
THe black dragon was utterly disappointed. The dragon king had told them to abandon their hate for the humans, that they should watch over them and play their role. He said that nothing could be gained from that hatred. They all believed in his words but in the end…..
“My….King?”
They were all extremely confused. The last words that the dragon king spoke were filled with malice. The three of them could feel it and were so confused that they couldn’t speak.
“What was that……. At the very end…..”
The red dragon was trying to hide his sadness by directing his anger towards the king.
“Stop it Hardy.”
“But!….”
Hardy couldn’t say anything more.
“Even though he held that belief up until now, he still hated humans.”
Tinker turned a cold gaze on the dragon king.
“Tinker…..”
Carpent didn’t know what to say to Tinker. Carpent still believed in the Dragon king. He remembered the kings last words and in his own way thought he understood his king. Even the king was weak sometimes and held hatred in his heart, but that wasn’t something to look down on him for. It was something to be respected, even though he had this hatred inside of himself, he recognized it and chose to walk a righteous path.He had been trying to teach the three of them this. Hardy respected the dragon king and kept to his words but Tinker disappeared after that without telling the others where she was going. They hadn’t seen her for hundreds of years.

“After that I watched over the world like the king wanted. That was when I met Kagetra, he had powerful magic and I asked him why he wasn’t able to understand even when he was this powerful. But Kagetra was just immature and soon came to understand my words. He accepted my words not out of fear or anything else. He was powerful and if he didn’t like my words he could have just killed me but he didn’t.”
Kagetra was the first human that Carpent had met who believed him.
“Kagetra had powder but he chose to not just use it to get what he wanted but instead use it for good. “
“So when was Dragon’s heart formed?”
Sieg asked.
“Immediately after that. Kagetra and his party returned to the empire after that and were praised for killing me. They were given the name Dragon’s heart.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Kagetra explained that it was given to them because they changed the conception that Dragons were the strongest creatures in the world. They were said to hold the hearts of dragons in their hands. However it was not a name that they were given willingly and thus gave it a different meaning. They described it amongst themselves as those who gave their hearts to the black dragon, he was quite a weird guy now that I think about it.
“……”
Sieg still had doubts about what kind of person Kagetra was. He was a summoned hero and was pictured as a great man. He had the power to change the world but according to Nito he was no longer around and Dragon’s heart was supposed to be a thing of the past.
“So why is the name of our organization now called Dragon’s heart?”
“…….”
Suddenly the black dragon was now reluctant to speak.
“Because a tragedy happened.”
“A tragedy?”
“…..”
It was hard to know if the black dragon was just thinking or was finding it hard to say.
“I don’t know the details but I haven’t seen Kagetra in a long time. Even though he had said that he was superhuman he never showed up no matter how long I waited so I began to believe that he was really dead. It was sad but I tried to move on. I inherited his will and continued what he had been doing launching the current Dragon’s Heart.”
“It wasn’t for mom?”
“Of course it was. It was for the both of you. I thought there should be someone to watch over this world so that there aren’t anymore victims like Viola. It’s very similar to what the dragon king had said, the world needed someone to watch over it.”
The black dragon still refered to humans as stupid, that hadn’t changed but he had chosen a human as a wife. Why was that? There were still secrets that Carpent was keeping as Sieg was half human and half dragon.
“I’m sure you’re wondering why I chose a human woman if I thought that they were stupid.”
But Sieg and the others didn’t answer that and simply waited quietly.
“That’s because I realized that the concept of race was trivial. Everyone lived the same life.”
However Alford, Sieg and Eliza didn’t seem convinced. They are the three who go and kill the ones who abuse their power so they should be the ones who understand the meaning of these words more so than anyone else.
“If you look at race then its just a human that you hate. So you need to look at everyone as an individual instead.”
Those who are obsessed with justice often say the same thing that the black dragon just did. However the black dragon had lived a long life and this was the answer that he eventually came up with.
“You should all find your own way though. This is my own idea nad I will not force it on you. That is all I have to say on that topic. Vaham, I would like to hear about the information you have brought.”
“The charitable bloodline..”
Vaham explained until Sieg seemed to remember something.
“Dad, What is the observer in your story?”
“That is a mystery only known to the dragon king. He liked to tell fairy tales, according to him the observer was some sort of great existence that maintained the worlds balance. They appeared in times of great instability but it was just a fairy tale.”
At that Siegs doubts had disappeared and they held a meeting to discuss the charitable bloodline.
