I am the main character
{Why are you always somehow late!!!!}
"I am not late, I am telling you I will be right on time." I said as I ran with great speed. I was so fast I easily pass some of the cars on the road.
It was the day of the Junior Karate World Championship and as some may have expected, I was running late.
It was literally the most important tournament in my life.
I was in Tokyo as it was the city where the Championship would be held. It has been held in Tokyo every four years and the streets of the city was also themed in such a way.
There was even a holiday throughout the city, that was how big of a deal this Championship was. It was basically a mini Olympic.
I was currently running through Tokyo, the eastern capital. I think I was around two kilometers away from the stadium and have around 3 minutes before the start of the tournament.
There was suppose to be an opening program and shit and I would miss it if I was late.
{You should've gone with the coach like he asked you to.} the author said.
"I will never reach anywhere 3 hours before the actual timing. That's insane." I said and continued running. I swiftly passed the pedestrians and I jumped over some which I could not passed through.
That caused gasps of amazement from the people and they turned their head to watch me with great interest.
Some people even took videos of me.
I jumped over few people again, "Sorry!! I am running late!!" I yelled while I was in the air.
Jumping over the people whose size were about 5'7 in Japan was quite easy for my superhuman stats.
I landed gracefully and did not stop my momentum as I began running again. At some point I was close to the huge stadium and I noticed that there were many cars parked around.
Almost there!!
"I told you I will be right on time." I said and saw my mother and coach in the entrance of the stadium. My mother was worried while my coach was fuming.
"Sorry, I got lost." I said and lightly peck my mother's cheek. A light blush spread on her face but she played it cool.
Then I immediately left even before my coach he even scolded me.
He couldn't do anything but smile helplessly when he saw me enter the stadium. He just stood there wishing me luck.

The opening function started and it lasted nearly an hour and consists of few speeches and some history of Karate before they announced the rules and regulation.
I admi,t it was quite embarrassing when I had to walk to the main platform where every other participants were already standing. Some glared at me for the disrespect while some chuckled.
Then there was an introductions on the participating countries. It may be a World Champonship but not all countries participated and even then only the best of the best were send to participate.
Even our country which was the host only let four people participate, including me.
After the opening ceremony was done, we were made to return to our locker room which was different for each countries.
Then the Championship finally started.
I was in the locker room as it was still not my time to fight quite yet. I was looking at all the gifts I received from different people.
There were multiple gifts near my locker. It was quite a lot and I quickly skimmed through them.
Some were letters from fans while some were herbs and even some good luck snacks. I even received a gift from the Japan Karate Association, talk about being popular.
But amongst all those things what caught my attention was the neatly packed transparent box which held different types of mochi.
It was beautifully decorated and from the box, I could tell that it was homemade and not a company product.
"I love mochi." I said and picked it up before quickly opening and eating it.
It tasted divine. I felt like crying as the sticky yet soft texture melts in my mouth in ultimate sweetness.
I quickly looked around the box and even at the stock of gifts but I could not find any mention of the senders name. It was just that, a gift from an anonymous person.
{Hopefully it's not poison. You are in a competition so it is highly possible that it is a dirty ploy from your opponents.}
I paused.
I looked at the mochi in my hand and carefully and slowly I took another bite.
'I don't think something which tastes this good could be poisoned.'
{I changed my mind, I hope it is poison. It would lead to interesting plot development and worst case scenario the world losses a dumbass.}
"That's just mean." I said while chuckling.
To be honest the thought did cross my mind and I hated my pessimistic thinking but honestly that is just unlikely.
"This taste frighteningly good." I said. Mochi was my food and I have eaten a lot of it, but this one left a unique feeling in my mouth.
I wondered who could have sent me such a gift. I have a very small circle of relationship so I thought about who could it be.
It was definitely not Sumire so maybe Marin?
If it's not her the only one I could think of is Tsukimi. But I knew she couldn't cook anything even for her life.
That means a random fan? If so I wonder how they knew my favourite food.
"I wonder who?"
I said and while I was thinking, I realized I have finished all of them.

It was finally time for my first match and after wearing the necessary equipment and gueards. I went on to the arena.
The moment I stepped outside I saw the huge audience and it finally hit me how prestigious and important this tournament really was.
I looked around, secretary searching for someone I knew and I was not disappointed.
Amongs the crowd I saw a huge banner and a group of girls from my school.
"Fujita san!!!!" They yelled and cheered for me but I was not looking at them.
I was looking at Marin who stood infront of the group. She smiled when she knew I was looking at her and she gave me thumbs up.
I waved lightly at her and all the girls behind her squealed in delight. Then I focused back on my opponent.
The stadium had multiple mat which was the size of standard karate mat. A square with side 8m. I went to one of them where my opponent and referee were standing. The judges sat a few distance away.
I went there and stood face to face with my opponent. He was Brazillian, quite attractive and he seemed to be around 20 years old. Which made sense since the Championship was U21.
He was looking at me with the face of a man who already achieved victory, very confident. And I think logically speaking he had every right to be.
I was only 15 years old and I was from Japan, a country known for their incompetent fighters. There was no way he could lose.
"Fighters in position!!" the referee said and we both got in position.
We both bowed in respect to each other.
Then,
"Fight!!"
We both assumed a karate stance and began moving. My opponent had a cool aura around him and his eyes showed nothing but determination.
I was sure that he was training a lot for this fight. I was sure he must think that this was his chance to shine and win. He was 20 years old and had probably dedicated all his life in this martial art.
But unfortunately,
"I am the main character."
He was fated to lose.
Sorry but not really sorry.
