A life with the Author

Did you ever miss me?

[Yuito's POV]

{Are you okay?}

The author's voice rang in my mind as I walked up the stairs leading to the second floor. My body still felt sore and it hurts here and there but for all intents and purposes, it was functioning.

"I'm fine, why won't I be?" I said with a long chain of chuckles. If I stopped suddenly, it would hurt. My lungs seemed to be pretty messed up due to Sun Breathing and took the most time to heal.

{Nothing. Just worried cause you have been sleeping for days now. Its fine to have you back, I thought for a moment that I was going to lose my favourite OC.}

"Calling me an OC now? That's wild, you are going to give me existential crises. " I said even though it didn't affect me much. Maybe at one point in my life with the author's voice in my head, I had lost my sanity.

After I reached the second floor, I made my way to the different rooms on the floor. It did not take me long to find out where they were hiding so I knocked on the door.

"It's me. It's over." I said and then the door was pulled open violently and a girl leapt at me.

Long straight hair, as black as the night. They were as silky as the last time I felt them. I hugged Tsukimi in my arms as she buried her face on my chest. Her arms also wrapped around my waist and she pushed herself in me as if she wanted to merge with me.

Time stood still for that perfect moment created on impulse. A man who had just defeated the enemy returned to his worried lover who threw herself at him the moment she saw him. It felt like the perfect medieval love story.

But the moment did not last long - at least nearly not as long as I would've wanted. Our embrace was broken by the one who initiated it in the first place.

Her eyes snapped open in realization as she pushed herself back. A flicker of horror in her eyes at what she had just done - as if she had done something she shouldn't do - and they gained an apologetic look.

"I-" Her words were broken by a cheer of joy from another girl.

"Yuito!!"

I smiled as the girl ran at me and stopped in my embrace. Her hug was firm but not desperate like the one before, and it also came without apology.

"Why did you sleep for so long dummy!!! You made Noona worried." She said as she rubbed her tears all over me.

"Sorry, sorry," I said with a helpless shake of my head.

I looked around at the guest room and immediately took note of the medical equipments and the IV stands. On the bed, there was Xiaolung who was awake but with his broken limbs, he still could not move.

"Man, you look like shit." I said with a laugh, "Just by looking at you, people would assume you were the one who fought off the strongest fighter."

Xiaolung did not smile, he rarely smiled when it came to things other than VIvi. But he did gave me a nob of acknowledgement. If his mouth had not been bandaged because of a broken jaw, he might have smiled and said a lot of things.

But he didn't because his jaw was broken into two parts, his tongue was bitten off and his seeth all needed replacement. They really fucked him up.

But it was unavoidable, he was the one who never gave up on protecting Vivi. They did everything they could to put him down but none worked.

{Respect}

Respect.

"Tsukimi?" I called her and she awkwardly responded to my call. I think she was still caught up on our hug earlier.

Silly girl.

"Your minions are downstairs. Maybe you want to explain the situation to them." I said and her eyes gained focus.

"Oh, right." She said and immediately excused herself to go downstairs.

After she was gone, I turned my focus on Xiaolung and Vivi. I checked up on the Chinese bodyguard to see the extent of his injury and I got an unhealthy amount of gratitude from him.

Vivi also thanked me sincerely and asked me how I healed so quickly when Xiaolung was still in bed. I just told her I ate lots of bananas which prompted her to make a promise that she would feed lots of them to Xiaolung as well.

Not long after, Tsukimi came up again and her eyes were grave.

"We have to move." She said and we did.

It was no longer safe to stay in the second affiliate after we basically made an enemy of the CEO of Workers.

It was not much of a problem though, Nomen and the other executives helped us and with my limitless budget, it was not hard to find someplace to crash.

We also did not have much luggage to carry around so I rented one house and we moved there.

(A few hours later)

After everything was done the others, especially after Xiaolung had settled, I went into one of the rooms with a box of medicines and bandages.

I sat on the bed and tried to put some ointments and medicine on my burised body. I had recovered well but still not completely. I also wanted to re-bandage my body.

It was quite a hassle to do it by myself and I struggled for a few minutes until the door to my room was knocked

"Come in." I said and Tuskimi opened the door, her head peeking inside.

"I saw you walking in with the bandage. Do you need help?" She asked me, almost like a homeless asking for food even though she was supposed to be offering help.

"That'd be a great help," I said and she lit up with a small smile before coming in.

"Thanks for the help." I said as she took the tool of bandage from my hand and she began wrapping them around my body.

"Don't mention it." She said.

But I wanted to mention it. I have not given her the gratitude she deserves, Without her, who knew what would've happened to me? Although I liked to believe that I could've escaped from any situation, the odds were not on my favour.

Yet it was because of her that I was able to sit here and was not strapped somewhere else. Or maybe I would've died from my injuries.

"No. You have done much for me, without you, I could've died. " I said. "Thank you."

She paused her movement, her soft palm pressed on my back. The warmth of her hand was healing my sore muscles.

"What are you saying? You have done the same for me countless times in the past." She said with a nostalgic touch in her voice.

Did I?

I paused for a moment as I recalled the past. A life that while it was only a few years away, felt like a lifetime ago. A life where I was just reincarnated. A life where I was content with living the best life I could. A life without other girls in my life.

A life without the author.

It's funny how things changed so much in just a few years. For the better might I add.

Tsukimi continued wrapping the white bandage on my body. Her soft hand rubbed on my back and her nimble fingers worked to fix me up.

I stared forward and looked at the reflection in the mirror in front of us. Specifically, I looked at Tsukimi who had a small smile in her otherwise aloof face.

She's grown prettier.

Mentioning the past had brought some feelings back with the memories. At one point in my life, I thought she would be my one and only.

She was my first love, including my previous life and this life. I thought we would have the perfect life together. But everything crumbled on that day.

Had it not been for the appearance of the annoying author or the multitude of events that quickly followed, that day might've broken me.

But in the end, it all turned out well for me. I grew from that experience and I got to meet all of the other girls because of it. Something that should've broken me, had turned into the beginning of a great blessing.

But I wonder....

What about her?

She looked fine the first time I met her again in Korea when it was time for my MMA debut. She had become extremely stoic but I thought maybe the experience had changed her, just like it did me.

And she moved on.

....

Yet here we are. She still cared about me, she did everything she could to save me, she threw away all of the work she had built without hesitation, turning against her own boss, against her own allies.

"Hey, Tsukimi." I called her.

"Hn."

"Did you ever miss me?"
