“Turn the light on.”
“Yes, sir.”
The chef turned on the light right away, lit up the dark and moisty tunnel of the basement.
Pei Siran pushed open the stone gate, pressed on the button inside and the whole basement was, therefore, lit up.
The sudden brightness almost made Jiang Sheng blind; he squinted his eyes, blinked for a few times first and finally regained his wits.
What came into his sight was a beautiful teenage boy with light green hair shackled with chains on a bed.
The boy should be around eighteen years old judging by his look, but he was not nearly as strong and healthy as a boy of his age should be. He was so weak that he could only lean against the wall for support. Even so, he looked like he would be out of breath at any moment; the chains were too heavy, which left painful marks on him. He was so thin and weak that anyone would be heartbroken just by seeing him.
But Jiang Sheng could still tell that there were no wounds on his body and no signs of maltreatment, either. He was only being locked up.
“Go… go away! I don’t wanna see you. Leave me alone!”
The young man started to panic the moment Pei Siran walked in. He ducked into the corner in fear with tears all over his face, delicate yet pitiful.
Pei Siran didn’t say a word, but the sadness on his face was obvious.
He walked towards the young man, took out a bottle, and handed it over to him. The young man passed out right away and fell into his arms.
Pei Siran unlocked the chains on the young man one by one, emotionlessly. Then he carried him away from the bed and turned to Jiang Sheng.
Jiang Sheng was immediately spooked by his turn. He moved his body backwards and looked at Pei Siran defensively.
“Don’t… don’t you dare come over here! Do you have any idea who I am? I’m Pei Siyan’s wife!”
“I know that.” Pei Siran answered peacefully.
Jiang Sheng was petrified this time, ‘Sh*t! Does he know him? Can he be an enemy of Pei Siyan or something?’
“Well, what happened… to him?”
Jiang Sheng asked about the young man quite abruptly. His intention was not to change the topic, but it was just that he felt bad for the young man; his clothes were all covered with his own blood.
“I can take you up there, as long as you promise me to be quiet.” Pei Siran gave him an irrelevant answer, and his face was still cold.
Jiang Sheng twitch his mouth right away, ‘Goddamn it, you are the one who kidnapped me here and now you’re saying that you can take me up there in a life-saver’s tone? Never mind, he doesn’t look like a bad guy anyway. I’ll just listen to him for once.’
“I promise you that I won’t scream. Just untie me first! It hurts me badly.”
Pei Siran didn’t say anything but gave the chef a look instead.
“Yes, sir.”
The chef untied Jiang Sheng as fast as he could, and then he looked at Jiang Sheng while scratching his head, smirking.
“How can you still smile like that? Why did you kidnap me here?”
Jiang Sheng pulled the chef by his collar and asked grumpily the moment he was free.
“That’s none of his business. I’m the one who gave the order to let him kidnap you here.”
After Pei Siran said so, he carried the young man, walked to the stone gate and was going upstairs.
Jiang Sheng followed up right away, “Wait for me!”
Soon, Jiang Sheng followed Pei Siran up to the exit, and then a bedroom came into his sight. It seemed to be a master bedroom judging from its decoration.
“Find yourself a place to sit down. I’m taking him to shower first.”
Pei Siran carried the young man into the bathroom after he said so, leaving Jiang Sheng there alone.
“Oh well! That’s quite casual!”
Jiang Sheng even felt a bit surprised; he then sat down on the couch, grabbed a fruit and started to eat. He was really making himself comfortable here.
That was why the chef who just came up was shocked by what he saw.
‘This guy was kidnapped here and he doesn’t have even the slightest sense of danger. That’s quite extraordinary in some ways.’
“Hey, you! What’s the deal with those two guys? Who is the young man he imprisoned?” Jiang Sheng took a large bite of the pear, pointed at the bathroom and questioned the chef
“What? Imprisoned? That’s my master’s wife!” The chef rolled his eyes at Jiang Sheng right away.
“Your master’s wife? Then why is he locked in the basement?”
“He is a man-made breed, but the surgery failed, and he would have to experience the pain of having his guts ripped apart every month. That’s why my master chooses to lock him down in the basement so that he won’t disturb the other masters living here.”
“Man-made breed? What is that?” Jiang Sheng was confused.
“There are only a very small amount of people who can be pregnant with the non-humans’ child in this world. That’s why there are man-made breeds nowadays. Bai Hao, the man who’s always by Pei Siyan’s side, is the first generation of the experiment. His surgery succeeded, but the one operated on our master’s wife failed. That’s why he looks like this now.”
‘So Bai Hao is also a breed! Well… he doesn’t look like so! That’s cool.’
“Then why did you kidnap me here? What for?” Jiang Sheng finally remembered to ask the key question.
“My master wants to use your blood to ease his wife’s pain.”
‘Ugh, come on! Why didn’t he just tell me all the undercover work was for his wife at first? I thought he was going against the Prime Family before he told me the truth. That really scared the sh*t out of me.’
