“I got the general picture of the whole thing, and you should get a good rest.”
It was in the middle of the night and he was carrying a pregnant guy, so Pei Siyan didn’t linger any longer. He carried Jiang Sheng who was still grumpy and left.
“Okay.”
Bai Hao didn’t ask him to stay longer. But after a moment, he remembered that there was something important that he was going to report to Pei Siyan. When he got himself back together, Pei Siyan was already gone.
‘Ah, how can I be so silly? I was going to tell him that Jiang Sheng was not the reincarnation of Lan Yuan. Never mind, telling him that tomorrow will make no difference. But how did Hei Ming know that? Or did he say it on purpose?’
Bai Hao frowned and looked serious, but shortly after, sadness took over his face. He sighed in pain and leaned against on the couch feebly, letting his subordinate bandaging his wounds.
For now, he didn’t want to think about Hei Ming anymore. It was too painful to do so.
At the same time, on a tree across from Bai Hao’s window, Hei Ming had been watching all the way. He lit up a cigarette, looked at the back of Bai Hao again and then flew away.
About an hour later, Hei Ming stopped at a mansion in a quiet forest and landed on a balcony of a room on the second floor.
Habitually, he lit up another cigarette, then opened the French window and walked into the room.
A boy was lying in the bed; he was around seven or eight years old judging from his look.
Hei Ming sat down by the side of the bed and stroked the boy’s head. A touch of smile showed on his face.
“I can smell blood from you.”
Bai Haotian opened his eyes and looked at Hei Ming. Those eyes were way to sharp for a kid at his age to have.
“Something happened.”
Hei Ming gave him a short response. He took his hand back and puffed out a wisp of smoke gently.
“Don’t smoke that much, or else you’ll die.”
Bai Haotian was just lecturing, but he didn’t throw Hei Ming’s cigarette away.
“Die?”Hei Ming mocked himself, “I wish I could.”
What Hei Ming had said put Bai Haotian in silence, “Then why don’t you just leave me? In that way, you won’t be chained by the Prime family, and you can go find him.”
Bai Haotian didn’t say the name, but who ‘him’ referred to was obvious.
Hearing that, Hei Ming’s body shivered, and his eyes were covered with sorrow as well as pain.
He pretended to be fine and rubbed Bai Haotian’s hair, saying with a smile, “Don’t you worry about it, kiddo. I’ll get the medicine, I guarantee.”
Bai Haotian didn’t response. He remained silent yet his eyes were also lifeless.
‘He is suffering more than anyone, but he is always smiling at me.’
Shortly after, Bai Haotian looked down and asked quietly, “Can I go see him?”
“You can’t leave here, not yet. It’s dangerous out there.”
Bai Hao was upset upon hearing that answer, but he didn’t continue.
It was because he knew what Hei Ming did was for his good.
“How’s your body lately?” The atmosphere was too gloomy, so Hei Ming put out his cigarette and turned to another topic.
“Same old, same old.” Bai Haotian answered without emotion as if he was already numb to it.
He then added, “Find me a servant! I need someone to kill time with me.”
“Male or female?” Hei Ming nodded. He looked down and kissed his forehead. Then, he looked at Bai Haotian’s face and fell in a trance.
“I’m not your wife.” Bai Haotian rolled his eyes at Hei Ming and brought him back from the trance.
Hei Ming smiled bitterly, and he was going to light another one up, but his cigarette case was already empty.
“Do… do I look like him?” Bai Haotian hesitated and asked eventually as if he was considering whether this question would hurt Hei Ming.
“No, you don’t. But you have his eyes.”
Beneath them, it was the same stubbornness and unyieldingness.
