A Different Smallville

Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Spring Break, Fortress of Solitude.

Clark stood in the fortress slightly nervous of what to come. For the day he and Leonardo will separate, since the day Clark accidently pulled him into his universe a little over two years ago. The thought that both excited him and worried him as he worries what trouble Leonardo will get up to and the thought of being on his own again. Since he wasn't so dumb to know that Leonardo had gotten him out of trouble a few times before.

"We are, Jor-El. Let's get this over with." Clark said.

Leonardo had just finished tweaking the DNA, so while he still looks very similar to Clark, it wasn't a carbon copy. In fact the body looks fairly similar to the dream body from a while back, except his dark brown hair turned almost raven black, his features were evened out and almost inhuman blue eyes seemed to suck one into them. Well that's what it felt like on the screen, as he didn't make much changes. The program that will craft the body deemed this the perfect fit for him.

"Very well, my sons. Please do not move nor worry, Kal-El, for this shall be painless and in a week's time, you and your brother shall be separated" Jor-El spoke as ice began encasing them.

'Being adopted by an AI still feels weird.' Leonardo muttered.

'Yeah, not to mention I will be getting a brother.' Clark sighed before they went to sleep.

Back in Smallville as Clark and Leonardo were separating. Jonathan was trying to cover Clark's absence on the farm the best he could. While Martha was preparing a space for Leonardo to live. Since it was determined that Leonardo would stay with them for a while, only it made it a bit tight since their house didn't have much room.

"Hello, Mrs. Kent. Is Clark around?"

"Sorry, Lana. He won't be back for a week." Martha said. "He is off to meet his brother who is coming here to stay for a while?"

Lana looked a bit shocked at the news and a bit angry for not being told. Clearly she felt angry for not being told, he would disappear for a week. Not to mention the news about apparently having a brother.

"Clark has a brother?" Lana asked.

"The two have been in contact for a little over two years now." Martha said. "So what did you need help with?"

"Since Adam went missing a few weeks ago, I decided to pack his stuff up and move it to the storage container. I was hoping Clark would give me a hand in moving everything." Lana explained.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Lana. I know you really like this guy." Matha tried to comfort the girl.

"Well, it's fine since all I got was heartache and I am used to that with my last few boyfriends." Lana said. "Is this Clark secret he is so guarded against?"

Martha just looked at her for a moment as her mind wandered for a moment. Before sitting down and motioning for the seat across from her. Martha knew this was going to be a long chat with Lana, so might as well make it so both are comfortable.

"Lana, I know this isn't what you want to hear, but everyone has secrets. Some are smaller or bigger, but everyone has secrets." Martha began.

"How can I trust Clark, if he is just hiding things from me?" Lana asked.

Martha paused after Lana interruptions. "It's not just about Clark, Lana. Trusting others isn't just about knowing everything about them. Otherwise you won't ever find a lasting relationship but find your friends leaving you."

"They all say it's for my own good, but they just tell me one lie after another." Lana grumbled.

"Yes, I can see your view, but sometimes the secret is best kept only to oneself or the few in it. Since, the more that know, the higher the chance of leaking is, and dangerous it could be for everyone." Martha tried to explain. "While I can't speak about others, Clark isn't built to speak his mind, for that's just the way he is. Hence it is something he struggles with everyday, and if you care enough about him, you trust him to tell you when he feels ready."

"So I am just supposed to wait around until he decides it's a good time." Lana said slightly coldly.

"No, as everyone needs a boot in the behind from time to time, but pressuring him to reveal all his secrets. Well it will chase him and probably others away sooner or later." Martha said.

"It's hard to trust them when they keep everything a secret." Lana said.

--

A week later, Leonardo opened his eyes to find himself lying on an ice bed. Pushing himself up, as he felt a lack of strength, a feeling he really only felt when he was ill. While looking around the fortress, before noticing his lack of clothes. Right before he found a set next to him, in which he put on while Clark was leaving his crystal.

"My son, it has been completed. You will feel a bit weak for a while, as you adjust and your body begins to accept the sun nourishing rays. Please decide on your Krpytonian name." Jor-El said.

"Seg-El." Leonardo said after a quick thought.

While it certainly wasn't an original idea, he quite liked the character in the first season of Krypton. He never actually got around to watching the second season. Not to mention he has to give the man a thumbs up for having basically two wives in a society where it is not allowed. Though it did cause a mess of the future generations as he was basically the grandfather of Kal-El and General Zod.

"Very well, from now on you will be called Seg from the house of El, the brother of Kal from the house of El." Jor-El seemed to speak normally.

"I should awaken my ability after this feeling of weakness goes away, right." Leonardo asked.

Despite the bout of weakness he currently feels, Leonardo felt stronger than a normal human. Yet, it wasn't close to even what is considered super strength. For while he was under no illusion he would be as strong as Clark who has been absorbing the sun for years, it shouldn't be this weak.

"Yes, and this weak feeling will fade as you fully adapt to Earth's atmosphere." Jor-El stated.

Leonardo nodded. "I just wanted to make sure you didn't tamper and removed them after I adapted to having them from Clark's body."

"You are of the same wavelength as my son, thus I choose to believe in your ability to control yourself." Jor-El stated.

"Thanks I guess." Leonardo wondered if that was a complement or not. "Clark, let's get back to Smallville."

Clark wanted to agree, but he just kept staring at his eyes. Which made Leonardo look into one of the crystals to show his reflection. His eyes were truly captivating a little much as well very memorable which is probably a good and bad thing.

"Jor-El, how are the glasses I asked about?" Leonardo asked.

"Both glasses you have asked for yourself and Kal-El have been completed." Jor-El said. "I have made the glasses to your specifications and hope they will serve you well."

Next to the ice bed, he climbed off of, a ice pillar slowly rose holding two pairs of glasses. One was more thick and box shaped frames while the second was a bit thinner and rectangular. Picking up the smaller of the pair, he handed the other one to Clark.

"Really?" Clark asked.

"I thought they would suit you." Leonardo said. "Since it should be made of Krypton material and near indestructible. You can use your abilities through them and not have them melt and you never know. Maybe they might save your life or get you out of a tough situation."

"Really?" Clark raised an eyebrow. "Also, why did you make it so nerdy looking?"

"You can grow into them, I guess. Also, don't knock on a pair of glasses." Leonardo smiled.
