A Demon's Tale

Chapter 108: Those Who Contain Shiro’s Weaponry

Among the many forms and species of demons, demon beasts were often considered the most primal among all. Without a single thought capable of being produced within their heads, they acted as a demon version of common predators. Much like those predators, they took on similar shapes of their own.

Quadrupedal demon beasts, bipedal demon beasts, demon beasts that used their teeth to fight or demon beasts that used their claws, perhaps even all of the above. No matter where you’d look, there were as many types of demon beasts as there were vicious animals that existed in the wild.

Due to their violent nature, choosing to kill or be killed, demon beasts were often prevented or ward off from roaming nearby cities and villages. Thus, the amount of demon beasts many had often seen was quite scarce in number.

This was until a few weeks prior to the present, where the scents and lights used to ward off the demon beasts had been destroyed in certain areas. A massacre then ensued, with blood and guts painting the town red. An immense rise in aura had occurred nearby, drawing the attention of all the demon beasts. Without warning, the beasts fought and killed each other, leaving only one victor behind. From each of the areas that were destroyed, a sole demon beast was taken and brought to a lab room.

They could not see the person experimenting on them, but it did not matter. It was not as though the beasts would remember any faces they were shown. Spliced and mixed together, the beasts were formed into a singular, powerful demon beast. Standing on two legs, with incredible strength and a lack of pain, the ultimate monster was created.

Though it could not recall faces nor did it follow any rules that others had made, the gladiator demon beast had learned an important lesson that it etched into its being, ever since the separate demon beasts had felt the mysterious aura.

Do not disobey the man in black.

The meaning behind kill or be killed had changed.

△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼

The beast did not have a need to understand things. Thus, when met with a foe far larger than itself, it had no reason to try and perceive why they existed. However, a sting of caution, one that was formed by birth from every living being in the world, had shaken the gladiator’s core. This foe was large, incredibly so. It did not care for the twin chainsaws on each hand nor the sharp look of the robot, but merely the fact that it was much taller compared to itself.

However, on the opposite side of the field, a kitsune with messy black hair, two long fluffy tails of the same and maroon skin stared back up at the mech in horror. Though it was on her side, Kiyomi was terrified by this sudden entrance of a weapon she could not even comprehend. She was capable of understanding things, unlike the demon beast, but could not understand why this mecha was here. The only explanation, which was rough in her brain, was that Migi had created and operated this machine. Even if she did not understand, the incubus tried to speak with her as if she did.

Migi: [So? What do you think, Rockin’ Kiyomi? Is this not the coolest?]

Waving her buff arms to the side, the kitsune tried to shout at the echoed voice that sounded similar to a speakerphone.

Kiyomi: [In what way is this cool?! You brought a death machine to this war! That’s a huge risk for everyone else!]

Migi: [Don’t worry, don’t worry! I’ve got it under control! Watch!]

Moving faster than Kiyomi had expected, the mech swung one of its arms back and glided the chainsaws along the ground, hitting the demon beast as it charged forward and cutting into it before sending it flying into a nearby pile of rocks.

Surprised by this, Kiyomi turned back to the mech slowly and gave a few claps of praise.

Kiyomi: [Alright. Maybe I was wrong. This might work perfectly.]

Migi: [Haha! See! Super Rockin’ Mecha Migi won’t go down that easily, nor will it hurt anyone on our side! I spent a nice long while making sure he was perfect! There’s no need to worry about the others! With that said, I’m gonna need some assistance from you, Kiyomi!]

Her fear rose again as she had heard the need of assistance from the monster behind her.

Kiyomi: [No! No way I am helping you with that thing! I don’t care if it involves some song and dance to summon a giant bug, I’m not doing it! Don’t even think about using anything on me to create a big plant monster either!]

Migi: [I’m not sure where you’re getting any of those ideas, but it’s nothing like that! I promise! I just don’t think the mecha is gonna take down this guy easily!]

Pointing up at the mech, Kiyomi tried to provide a retort to Migi’s claim.

Kiyomi: [That?! You think that won’t take him down easily?! You put four chainsaws on that thing, and giant ones at that mind you! You seriously don’t think that’s enough?!]

Migi: [Yeah. See?]

Pointing a double chainsawed hand like a finger, Migi directed the kitsune’s attention over to the pile of rocks, where the cloud of smoke started to settle as the beast charged forward, making its way over to Migi’s mech. While Kiyomi remained floored by its immense durability, Migi flicked a pair of switches inside his mech, causing a few hatches to open that sent out bombs with demon wings attached to them. A series of explosions took over the beast’s position, followed by a sparkling beam of purple that was fired from the mech’s red visor. The fire tint that the explosions from before had was now replaced by a dazzling cloud of purple. Detaching the spikes on his chainsaws, Mecha Migi threw the rope they were attached to forward at an incredible speed for such a large robot. The ropes quickly circled around the beast, to which Migi pulled on a joystick inside and caused the mech to spin in a circle, throwing the beast back into another pile of rocks in the distance.

Though the speed of his attack was fast, the SRMM stepped forward slowly, shaking the ground below as it moved. Inside, Migi sang to himself in a harmonic rhythm, which played over the speaker.

Migi: [Dun dun dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun!]

The shock that rattled Kiyomi’s brain could barely be compared to anything she had felt in the past. What she was now witnessing was far too out of this world to be considered normal in any sense of the word.

Kiyomi: [He’s having a blast with it too…]

Both she and Migi witnessed the demon beast reemerge, charging forward again in an animalistic manner without a single other care in the world. Jumping through the air, the gladiator beast thrusted its body down and slammed into the right leg of the SRMM, damaging it heavily in one hit. A warning appeared on the screens around Migi, causing him to smile at his foe’s accomplishments.

Migi: [Well, damn! You’re a whole lot stronger than I thought, pal! Guess I’ll have to pay you back for that though! People would pay good money for a mech like this!]

Swiping the warnings out of the way, Migi pressed two buttons on separate screens and activated a new set of weapons from his grandiose artillery. On the back of the mech, several spaces were now opened, releasing jets that flew towards the beast. Using the machine guns below them, the jets would fire at the beast before drifting back up, catching its attention. On the left leg of the SRMM, the sides of the foot were opened up as well, releasing several RC cars that bore a similar head to that of the SRMM on top with tiny buzzsaws that extended forward, cutting into the beast.

Below the wings of the mech were a row of thrusters, allowing for the weapon to fly in the air as well as in any direction Migi desired should the wings be tilted. Sending himself into the air, the SRMM was kept afloat as it charged its next attack. A long loading screen with a percentage on it popped up on Migi’s monitors. While it did so, a holographic chair that could be physically touched was placed beneath Migi, where he now kicked back and relaxed as he watched the chaos of the beast’s distress ensue.

Migi: [Dealing with this big guy is gonna be a real hassle if I use everything I’ve got here, so why not choose something a little bit better for getting the job done? This’ll surely wipe him out for good.]

Though the mech was loading its next powerful attack, it did not hesitate to continue firing upon the beast below. Flames released from each tooth, electric beams that were sent like signals by the horns, lasers that were fired by the left foot, vicious goo that the shoulders released to slow the monster down and keep him in place, a barrier around the head as it prepared the attack, a drink dispenser which provided Migi on the inside with a soda. Even the spikes of the chainsaws were launched like brutal, massive needles from above. Though the mecha was odd, it was a dangerous weapon that anyone had every right to fear should they be face to face with it.

The demon beast continued to receive hit after hit from the beams, barrages and radio controlled miniature vehicles. In Kiyomi’s mind, it was fair to say that this fight was now over. What could something as barbaric as their foe possibly do when faced with this much weaponry, produced by a mech it could not reach?

But even with enough artillery, there are limits to all types of nature.

Though it could not feel pain, though it did not understand what it was being hit by nor did it comprehend the mecha above it, the demon beast followed the very same rules as any other being.

When cornered in a battle, with no way out being perceived, only one option remained, the ability to fight. So long as you fight, you would surely gain a chance to make it out alive. Fear nor any other emotions did not matter. The law was to kill or be killed. Even when covered in goo that restricted one’s movement, or hit with every attack imaginable from a weapon beyond one’s time, the chance to succeed could be found in fighting. After all, no matter how many jets or cars were released to distract the attention of a monster, the monster would surely look to what caused the biggest trouble of all. That was the final step to being cornered, to attack the strongest first. Something that each of the beasts fused together were familiar with.

Using every ounce of power in their legs, the gladiator shot through the air at top speeds and landed on the left arm of the SRMM. This surprised not only Kiyomi, but Migi as well, who kicked himself back up out of his chair and attempted to strike before it was too late. That chance did not come, as the beast roared, slamming down into the arm, destroying it. The remaining arm hit the beast back down, creating a crater in the ground as the thrusters deactivated, sending the mecha down as well with a large cloud of smoke. Kneeling on its remaining leg, the Mecha Migi continued to smile as it stared at the invincible foe. Unlike his mecha, Migi was no longer smiling, with a concerned look instead taking over his face.

A red, blaring warning was displayed on a monitor, showing that critical damage was taken and fuel was now spilling out from the mech. Rushing to the side of the mech, Kiyomi shouted out to her friend to make sure he was alright.

Kiyomi: [Migi! Are you okay?!]

Unlike the energetic voice from before, a more serious tone was taken by the often flashy man.

Migi: [... Kiyomi.]

Kiyomi: [Y-yeah?]

Migi: [Remember when I said I might need your help? I need it, now.]

Kiyomi: [Is the mech dead?!]

Migi: [No, it’s still working. I’m not sure how much longer it’ll have, but I probably have just enough time to use my ultimate move once it finishes loading. The problem is, I have no idea how to deal with this guy until then. For the sake of reserving fuel, I’m turning off all other functions. Do you think I can leave the rest to you?]

Kiyomi could not understand the mech nor its usage. For someone who relied solely on the muscle in their body, to use such a hunk of metal was likely never a thought within her mind. That is why when Kiyomi had first seen it, she did not understand why it would be useful in the slightest, believing that it would likely cause more harm to their allies than to their opponent. Though she could not understand it, she could understand Migi’s drive to finish this foe and prove his worth to the woman he served. After all, Kiyomi had wanted to do the same for her own mother. To prove that the Strong Second within Kōkatsu the Almighty’s family was a name to be feared.

Slamming her fists into each other, Kiyomi flashed her fangs in a grin as she looked back up at the head of the mech.

Kiyomi: [Yeah! I’ve got this! Charge your attack and we’ll end this thing when you’re done!]

Migi: [Thanks. I’m counting on you.]

Beyond her–

Gladiator: [GROOOOAAAAAAH!]

Charging towards the mech again to finish its prey, the demon beast wasted no time since the previous attack to strike again. Intercepting the monster, Kiyomi charged as quickly as she could, throwing a hook forward and slamming into the side of the gladiator’s head.

Kiyomi: [DORIYAAAAH!]

Without flinching in the slightest, the beast slugged Kiyomi with a punch of its own directly into her stomach. Due to her ability being active, Kiyomi quickly sent a fist back at its jaw. Not a single bit of its brain was rattled, causing it to strike again at her face. Kiyomi countered again, hitting the monster like a whip by the side of its left arm.

Kiyomi: [You’re a mindless, thoughtless beast, so you could never understand it…]

In her mind, Kiyomi could see a small kitsune. One who was abandoned by her family and left to be taken by a group of soldiers for a dark lord. In the castle, the girl was kept as a slave to guard the gates. Due to her job as well as her desire to be free, the girl grew stronger and taller, far more than the average kitsune. Left behind by one of the fallen intruders was a book detailing the story of a legendary savior, Michopa the kitsune. Rebuked by many yet still helping others, Michopa was as kind as one could possibly be. The ability to be free, the ability to love, the ability to smile, all gifts she provided onto others. Though she was ridiculed, those she assisted felt as though they were forever in debt to her.

Receiving two hooks back, Kiyomi rushed the beast with a flurry of fists in retaliation, causing the monster to adapt and do the same with a storm of its own.

Kiyomi: [You’ve never known what it’s been like to be at that low, nor do you understand what it’s like to be saved from that…]

Her mind continued to reminisce on memories of the past. A party far different than the ones she had fought before, with only one staying behind. A kitsune with orange hair and nine tails of the same color. Refusing to hurt Kiyomi due to her status and freeing her of that, the kitsune held onto her tightly as if she were the girl’s own mother. As if she were the girl’s Michopa.

Grabbing the beast by the head as it rushed her with its fists, Kiyomi slammed into it with a devastating headbutt before slugging it as hard as she could across the cheek.

Kiyomi: [So tell me something, what exactly makes us so different? What makes my goal different from yours?]

The orange kitsune had bathed her, gently caressed her head as they slept in the same bed, spoke softly to the girl, provided her with a kimono of her own to wear. All the while, a tender smile could be seen on the kind kitsune’s face.

While the demon beast was still seated, Kiyomi struck it in the face with her leg, sending its body slamming hard into the rocky field below it. As it was forced down, Kiyomi smashed her foot against its head repeatedly.

Kiyomi: [I’ll tell you what it is. You’re only fighting because that’s all you can do. You don’t have a goal or a dream, not a single person to pay back for everything they’ve done for you.]

The motherly kitsune had met her husband, welcoming him into the family without any second thoughts and providing him with dinner as she chatted to the lovers. The motherly kitsune had personally requested the wedding dress that was made for her daughter, providing her with the perfect outfit on the most important day of all. The motherly kitsune had brought the woman to her groom, smiling all the way with occasional tears in her eyes, eternally proud of her daughter. The motherly kitsune had heard her daughter’s desire to have a child and supported her completely, excited by the possible news to come.

Slamming her fist into the downed foe’s face, Kiyomi watched as they forced themselves back up and performed a competition of strength between her and the beast. Clutching each other’s hands, the two attempted to push each other back. Slowly, Kiyomi forced the beast back, taking large steps forward as she did so.

Kiyomi: [But I do! I have a goal, a dream, and someone I need to pay back! There’s a woman, far greater than anyone else I know of, and I need to make sure she understands that she’s the greatest! That’s what makes us different! Because unlike you, a beast that only fights to kill…]

Tightly holding the demon beast’s hands, Kiyomi picked it up off the ground by its hands and swung it around, flinging the monster into the distance with all of her might and a ferocious scream.

In her mind, she could see her mother smiling.

Kiyomi: [... I HAVE A MOTHER WHO NEEDS TO KNOW JUST HOW MUCH SHE MEANS TO ME!]

Inside Migi’s mech, the loading had reached one hundred percent and was ready to fire. Locking onto the position of the beast, Migi gripped the joystick tightly. Nearby, in front of him yet not enough to be hit by the attack, Kiyomi turned with a fearsome gaze and shouted back to him.

Kiyomi: [NOW!]

Migi: [Super Rockin’ Mecha Migi's Ultimate Fulbright Sting Splitter Power Beam!]

Pressing the button on top of the joystick, a bright light, much greater than any others Kiyomi had seen, started to shine within the mech’s visor. A white light started to emerge amidst the rainbow sparkles around it, which was then sent out as a massive beam towards the beast. A tremendous explosion overtook the cloud of smoke Kiyomi had made from throwing the monster. Raising her arms, Kiyomi tried to protect herself from the fierce wind that pushed against her. Inside the mech, Migi was flung back by the blast. Though he protected his head, the top of his sunglasses were damaged by the force. With its final attack released, the mech was shut down automatically, causing the red visor to now have a black look to it with the static teeth doing the same.

As the wind had started to calm and the explosion was no more, Kiyomi lowered her arms, gazing upon what remained. The land in front of them was now charred and destroyed. Luckily no one within their team was nearby, nor had it been a large area of residence in the Onigashima District. Coughing up a storm from the explosion, Kiyomi questioned the situation.

Kiyomi: [Did that do it?]

Calming her heart down, Kiyomi looked on at the smoke as–

Gladiator: [GROOOOOOAAAAANNNNN!]

–From the depths of the smoke, the beast emerged without a helmet, revealing its terrifying, bleeding face. Its armor was broken in places, but not entirely gone. Though it was bleeding, it was still not dead. Stomping through the smoke, the monster made its return, ready to continue fighting.

Looking on in horror, Kiyomi fell to her knees, unsure if she still had enough energy or morale to keep fighting. Shaking, she clenched her teeth and smashed the ground with her fists, shouting over their loss.

Kiyomi: [It’s over! We were so close! We were so damn close! Damn it!]

Tears falling down her face, she recalled the kitsune she loved dearly in her mind. An orange kitsune, smiling at her.

Kiyomi: [Mother… I’m sorry…]

Behind her, the sounds of metal being struck could be heard, before an echo far louder than the rest screeched through the air. Kiyomi looked to her side, seeing a large metal faceplate fall into the rocks from afar.

???: [NO!]

Looking back up at the mech with her teary face, the kitsune could see a silhouette where the faceplate had been. An incubus with a determined, serious look on his face. A bright fire burning in his eyes, now visible by the left side of his broken sunglasses.

Migi: [IT’S NOT OVER YET!]

△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼

Running through the hospital, Migi rapidly approached the roam in which he kept his secret weapon. As he made his way over to the door, he could see a nurse standing nearby, staring at the sign on the door.

Migi: [Ah! Miss! Please don’t enter that room! I know I really shouldn’t occupy it, but I needed to use it for my ultimate weapon! I’ll pay back any damages made, I promise!]

Turning to look at Migi, the nurse gave a surprised but reassuring wave of her hand as she spoke with him.

Nurse: [Oh, no, no! I wasn’t worried about that! I just found it odd, I hadn’t seen this sign before, but I suppose you placed it here? I found it quite odd, since someone else entered this room earlier today. But please, don’t mind me! Use it as you must!]

As the nurse walked away from Migi, the incubus curled an eyebrow after hearing what she had to say. He looked back at the sign, which read out “Only to be used by the rockin’ legend, Migi Paribozijiou!” across the long plate.

Migi: [Someone else was here?]

Opening the door, Migi saw the room around him, as familiar as every other day in the past week he had spent in this place. Photos of old friends from his childhood at the junkyard, a large mech that was curled up holding its knees, but now, something new was added to the room. In front of the mech was a small note that Migi had not seen before. Picking it up, he looked on at the text, his eyes widening as he did so.

Even if you told me not to do so just yet, I’d like to say it now. I’m trusting you to take care of things on your end, Migi!

A name was not written, yet he could tell by the hand writing and written smiley face who it belonged to. Smiling back to the note and wiping a tear off his face, he looked back at the photos from the junkyard, before turning his attention to the mech.

A determined look filled his eyes, his smile growing larger to match.

Migi: [I promise I’ll get the job done, Lady Shiro!]

Faced with his greatest creation, Migi prepared himself as he entered the mech.

The trust of the one he served now remained firmly on his shoulders.

△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼△▼△△▼△▼

Aiming his mechanical hand at the demon beast’s face, Migi released the palm to hook onto it. As the hook reached, it clenched tightly onto the gladiator’s face, allowing Migi to retract the distance of the string and sending him flying through the air as he slammed into the monster with the arm. With all of the power put behind that hit, the hand function of the arm was smashed to pieces. In retaliation–

Gladiator: [GROOA–RIAAAAAH!]

The beast tried to push forward, but was shot directly in the face by the light cannon function of Migi’s arm. Dodging around the beast’s attack, Migi continuously shot it head on, sometimes in rapid succession, repelling the beast back with each hit. It should not have felt pain. It should not have been pushed back. It should not have flinched. Yet Migi Paribozijiou forced the monster into a corner where all rules were broken.

Swiping at Migi with its claws, the cannon was destroyed. Replacing it was the light sword he and Kōkatsu had developed. With an explosive fury on his face, Migi screamed at the change.

Migi: [NEXT!]

Performing a maddening dance that sprayed the monster’s blood, Migi endlessly struck at the beast’s legs, causing it to fall to its knees where its chest was now within range to hit. Striking the chest over and over, the gladiator was already fed up with this new weapon and chose to attack to end the pain. When cornered, all that remained was to attack.

Smashing the sword with a fist shaped claw, the sword was destroyed, giving way for the next, a drill.

Migi: [NEXT!]

Kicking off the ground with a terrifying speed, Migi spun the drill in the arm and aimed for the center of the beast’s chest. As it dug into the armor and made its way through the flesh, the monster clawed at Migi, creating a series of wounds to his flesh and tears into his clothing. No matter how much pain Migi felt, he continued to drill as far as he could into the beast’s center. However, the flesh of the beast was quite thick, which led to the drill getting twisted and destroyed as it made its way through. Now what remained was a small pipe that presented a similar appearance to the hilt of a dagger. Forming light into his arm, Migi powered the way for his light dagger, which led to him jumping in the air and striking back down at the demon’s drilled wound.

Migi: [EAT THIS!]

A bright light shone through its body, followed by an immense pillar of light that enveloped the area around the two. Kiyomi once again needed to shield her eyes, not only to protect herself from the wind this time, but also the blinding light in front of her. Breaking through the light, Migi was now left without anything attached to his right arm. Merely the two arms of muscle he had honed and trained as he created every piece of mechanical art in his past. Following him–

Gladiator: [MROOOAAAAAAH!]

Pushing through the light as well, the beast had shrunken down from the attack in order to survive and slugged Migi across the face, causing him to fall towards the floor. As it was ready to roar again, the monster noticed something. Now that Migi and it were close in height, the top of its chest cloth was perfectly in range for the incubus. Grabbing hold of the top, Migi turned his head back to the beast with a monstrous look of his own and slugged him back, sending him tumbling several feet back.

Holding his arms and head low, the dazzling incubus spoke to the monster while spitting out a bloody tooth.

Migi: [Trust is the most important thing in the world. If someone places their trust in you, you have to exceed their expectations…]

Charging forward again with its fists, the beast roared out to him.

Gladiator: [ROOOOAAAAAAANNNN!]

Matching the gladiator, Migi charged forward with an explosive flame of trust in his eyes.

Migi: [... ISN’T THAT RIGHT?]

Punching each other over and over again, a rain of demon beast blood and incubus blood filled the air around them. Purple and red sparkling as every fist connected, hitting flesh and the bone beneath. An uppercut to the jaw, a devastating hook directly in the face, a powerful strike to the stomach, all experiences the two shared at the exact same time.

Kiyomi’s slugfest with the beast had been immense, but this was one out of this world. Neither should have been able to keep up with each other as well as they did, yet they continued to fight endlessly.

Roaring as loudly as it could, the beast clenched its left claw as tightly as it could and sent it Migi’s way. In opposition, Migi clenched his right with every fiber of his muscle and thrusted it forward.

Gladiator: [GROOOOOAAAAAAH!]

Migi: [ORRIIIIYAAAAAH!]

With Migi’s fist crossing over the top of the demon’s, the two struck each other directly to the sides of their faces. A powerful bang sounded as they hit each other, followed by the demon opening its mouth as it fell to the floor. Moving his fist back to his side and panting heavily, Migi looked down at the fallen beast, bleeding but still standing.

Taking a few steps forward, Migi took off his sunglasses and flung them at the beast’s chest.

Migi: [You’ll need to be a whole lot more cool than that… if you wanna beat me…]

Struggling to look back up at Migi, the beast spoke its last breaths to him.

Gladiator: [Co… ol…]

Watching as the beast had fallen, Migi gave a thumbs up with his unarmed right hand.

Migi: [Yeah. Cool.]

Using every tool in his arsenal, Migi defeated the foe he had once thought immortal.

The battle against the morphed demon beast was over. The victor: Migi Paribozijiou and Kiyomi.

Poi had often considered herself quite skilled in battle. Though she had viewed someone like Silvia Bloodfire as much more powerful than she was, and there were certainly many others who excelled in battle, Poi had the understanding that she could take on a decently strong foe if she tried. This, of course, was an observation of the past.

Now covered in scars from her attempted battle, Poi was starting to run out of stamina as well as poison in her throat to use against her opponent. Slashing through the smoke, her sadistic foe closed the distance and tried to swipe down at her with his claws. Moving out of the way swiftly, Poi dodged the attack despite what little time she had to do so. Smiling back at her, the sadistic man spoke as he licked his claws.

Chima: [For foolishly fighting me once and receiving quite the grave injury, I’m surprised you’ve chosen to do so again. Do you perhaps crave death? If so, I must apologize. I’d like to have some fun before I kill you.]

Narrowing her pupils like a snake, Poi hissed back at him.

Poi: [Go to hell.]

Chima: [Oh please, that’s where you’ll be going soon!]

Watching as Chima attacked towards the sand below himself, Poi readied herself for an attack she could not see. However, she soon realized why this terrible man had chosen the sand to attack from and swiftly shut her eyes to avoid going temporarily blind. Opening her eyes back up again, the claw was beginning to edge close to her chest, just like it had on their previous encounter.

Poi: [I won’t make it in time!]

Closing her eyes to bear the pain, Poi apologized to the one she cared about most, who had told her prior to this battle that she should not join with the others and remain at the hospital for the time being.

Poi: [I’m sorry, Lady Silvia!]

Just barely, Poi kept her eyes open. However, what then occurred caused her eyes to open more and more, with a look of shock behind her widening snake pupils. As if in slow motion, she watched as Chima’s head was aimed higher and higher towards the sky, being moved by the bottom of his jaw. Beneath that jaw was a foot, or rather, a foot covered in yellow fur with electricity sparking around it. The speed of time returned to normal to Poi’s eyes, allowing for the culprit’s words to ring out into her ears.

???: [Eat shit, dumbass!]

Chima: [GHOAAAA!]

Spitting up a trail of blood, Chima was sent flying back by the spinning cat girl. As the girl landed, she placed her fur-covered fists to her sides and spoke to Poi behind her.

Bachi: [The hell are n’ya thinkin’, dummy? I can’t have n’ya dyin’ after all the trouble I went through. Ain’t that right…]

Looking back at the blue lamia, Bachi raised a thumbs up and gave a confident smile.

Bachi: [... Poi!]

Tears welled up in the woman’s eyes as she stared at her feline savior. A trembling smile started to form, happy to see the girl.

Poi: [You remembered my name…!]

Making her explosive entry, Bachi arrived at the battlefield at electrifying speeds.

The time to put an end to the sadistic scumbag known as Chima Verde was now at hand.
