Chapter 410 - 410: 231 Seven-turn Trials_2
Chapter 410: 231 Seven-turn Trials_2
Nothing else to say, his personal strength alone makes him one of the top beings currently within the Alliance.
And yet, his strength is not his only asset.
The moment he took on the Church, he predicted we’d retaliate. Hence, he always has two professionals of the 180-level with SSS-level traits by his side.”
“So you’re saying, to take down Gavin Grainger, we’d have to confront three individuals with 180-levels, all of whom possess SSS-level traits?”
“It’s more than that!”
The man in the black robe shook his head, squinting as he continued: “Aside from these, Gavin Grainger holds an ultimate contingency.
A terrifying contingency!
Not too long ago, he located Dean McKenzie and struck a deal with him. Mr. McKenzie now follows close behind him.”
“Given your Church’s strength, you must know who Dean McKenzie is, right?”
Of course!
As soon as the man in the black robe spoke Dean McKenzie’s name, the faces of the thirteen ghostly figures present turned grim.
Apparently, they were all aware of Dean McKenzie’s exploits.
Especially the ghost on the right. Hearing Dean McKenzie’s name sent shivers down his spine.
Because not too long ago, one of the church powerhouses that McKenzie had casually caught was from their church.
He had hidden deep at the time, not daring to move an inch as he watched a member of his church far stronger than himself being dragged away like a dead dog by McKenzie.
Since then, Dean McKenzie had become his worst nightmare.
And it was not just him, nobody present dared to confront McKenzie directly.
“You’re joking, right? Why didn’t you tell us earlier that Gavin Grainger hired Dean McKenzie?
If we had known sooner, we wouldn’t have come.
We aren’t ready to die yet!”
“That’s Dean McKenzie, the man who can kill even gods! What were you thinking trying to fight him?”
“Since he’s involved in this operation, let’s forego it. Hide for now!”
“Perhaps becoming a legitimate church isn’t so bad after all!”
The atmosphere shifted abruptly.
The main reason being Dean McKenzie’s record of defeating gods – twice.
For them, they viewed gods as invincible, and therefore considered Dean McKenzie virtually undefeatable.
They would not willingly confront McKenzie unless absolutely necessary.
The man in the black robe seemed to have predicted this response: “Actually, you don’t have to panic. He is not as invincible as you think. In fact, handling him could be easier than you anticipate.
From what I know, his current level is 140, the peak of the sixth-turn.
With his current strength, he can easily take on the sixth-turn Trials and accomplish seventh-turn at any time. Do you know why he hasn’t done so?
Because his seventh-turn opponent is a seventh-turn god!
A god he is not confident of defeating, making him fearful of initiating the seven-turn Trials!
So, handling him is quite straightforward for us, we just need to force him to initiate the seventh-turn, and the god will take care of him!”
The black-robed man’s words had the thirteen powerful church members exchanging a quick glance.
“You’re serious?”
The man in the black robe did not directly answer. He said, “I’ll take on Dean McKenzie when the time comes, and once I’m done, you can step in!”
With that, the others had nothing more to object.
“Alright, as long as you can handle your part, we will cooperate with the operation!”
“Gavin Grainger isn’t a big deal, take him out!”
With everyone’s approval, the plan to assassinate Gavin Grainger was finally in place.
The man in the black robe and the thirteen senior church officials reached an agreement.
And the operation promptly commenced afterwards.
…
Three days later.
Alliance Headquarters.
“Boom!”
Inside the headquarters, an ear-splitting explosion echoed throughout the sky.
“What’s going on?”
Gavin Grainger frowned, immediately looking towards the direction of the explosion.
“That direction, that point seems to be towards the prison. Is someone trying to break into it?
Let’s go and check it out!”
Gavin Grainger was about to move, two people appeared in front of him, stopping him.
“Don’t go there, we sensed a strong divine power. It’s likely to be the church acting. Their real target is not the prison but you!”
“They finally made their move?”
Gavin Grainger raised his eyebrows, seeming unsurprised by this.
In fact, he had been prepared for the church’s counterattack as soon as he decided to move against them.
What he hadn’t expected was that they would come directly to the headquarters. This was somewhat mad.
Fortunately, Gavin Grainger still had an ace up his sleeve.
“Let’s get Dean McKenzie!”
Gavin Grainger was preparing to use Dean McKenzie as his trump card, but before he could get to him, someone else found Dean first.
“Mr. McKenzie, this is a gift from Chairman Grainger!”
A middle-aged man respectfully presented a box to Dean.
“Who are you?”
Dean had a vague impression of the middle-aged man in front of him, who seemed to be one of Gavin Grainger’s confidants.
However, even if he was a confidant of Gavin Grainger, Dean was still puzzled and cautious about the man’s sudden arrival and the box held out in front of him.
Dean couldn’t just accept whatever was handed to him, he needed to see what was inside.
“What is this? Ah, a Talent Stone?”
Before Dean could finish asking, the man opened the box directly, revealing several talent stones shimmering brilliantly.
These stones are of extremely high quality, with a few even reaching perfect quality.
Upon seeing the stones, Dean immediately reached for them.
The middle-aged man was overjoyed and moved the box closer, attempting to hand it over to Dean.
However, the moment the box reached Dean, his hand smacked it, hitting the man’s face with a slap.
“Smack!”
With a slap, the middle-aged man was thrown against the wall. His body exploded under the raw power, immediately turning into a bloody pulp on the wall.
Dean was taken aback, finding this brutal spectacle shocking.
He had only intended to apprehend the man for questioning, fearing that his spirit could annihilate him with a single skill. That’s why he used a slap instead.
Unexpectedly, his slap was just as devastating.
One slap and the man was utterly annihilated.
As the man died, Dean received a system update in front of him.
“You killed the person who conveyed goodwill to you with the ‘Box of Good Intentions’. You will receive punishment!”
“The other party has set your punishment. You will open the seven-turn trials!”
As the two system notifications refreshed, a grey light fell directly onto Dean.
It was then that Dean realized what the man’s plan was.
“I wondered why I didn’t feel threatened, so it was this. Damn it! My talents have not even been promoted to level 9. I’ve lost out!”
Thinking about the attribute upgrade at level 9, Dean felt a significant loss, a sour look on his face.
His sour face made those secretly observing him feel that their plan was working.
“He really is wary of that god!”
“Obviously, even though he defeated a god, he cannot defeat all gods.”
“There are attribute constraints. The god he will face next should be one he can’t compete with.”
“Since that’s the case, let’s not give him a chance to complete the trial or even come out of it!”
As the voices rang out, beams of light fell upon Dean.
As these beams fell, Dean’s system notifications began to refresh continuously.
“Someone has used a tool on you, your trial’s difficulty level has been increased, and the reward for passing the trial has also increased!”
“Someone has used a tool on you, your trial’s difficulty level has been increased, and the reward for passing the trial has also increased!”
…
The same alert lit up 13 times, which promptly put a smile on Dean’s till then sour face…
