Second Life: Welcome to Gaia

Chapter 77: The last boss

After hearing the ghost say that the boss is in the next room, Ye Yan looked at the imposing bronze double door decorated with pictures of the four beasts, the dragon, the phoenix, the turtle, and the tiger, that leads to the next chamber.

Beyond that door, probably is the last boss of the dungeon and the ghost emperor, and with luck, a chest full of treasures.

But, before going to the next room, Ye Yan has to get his loot. He looked at Goatdalf's body and went in its direction.

While walking, he threw glances to where the Dark Youngs' bodies were before. As summoned monsters, their bodies disappeared upon death, not leaving one single item behind.

Ye Yan sighed, shook his head in a tentative to shoo away the greedy thoughts, and kept walking.

From Goatdalf's body, Ye Yan could get his horns, four Magic Source Crystals and one fire source that was among the boss's fur, and one summoning scroll that Ye Yan can't even imagine from where it came from in which was beside the boss's body.

Ye Yan looked around the room and saw nothing that he could store in his bag. The only thing he misses doing is examine the murals.

He looked at the mural but found nothing unusual, only the images of the lustful emperor and more than 40 women around him who should be his concubines, and images of the emperor in his throne with people bowing to him.

Ye Yan shook his head at seeing the pictures of so many women around the emperor.

"That's why there are so many dramas about the Palace's conspiracy. There is no way so many women could stand each other." Ye Yan looked at the emperor on the mural and sighed with pity. "They did not just have to share a man but it still had to be an ugly one. Rich people always have success with women..."

After examining the murals and finding nothing, Ye Yan went to the double doors. They are almost 3 meters (~9.85 feet) tall and look very heavy.

Ye Yan pushed the doors but they didn't move. He tried again but using more strength this time and they moved a little.

Luckily, Ye Yan's class has high strength, or else, he wouldn't be able to open the doors. If an archer, or other low-strength class, enters the dungeons alone, killing all enemies until they got here, they will still be stuck in this room without a way to pass through. That's why places like this are indicated for parties and not for single players.

As happened with the need for strength in this part of the dungeon, other places could have areas where only could be accessed using arrows or magic.

After almost a minute of pushing the double doors, They finally opened enough for him to pass through them.

The chamber inside is around four times the size of the others in the mausoleum. It is heavily decorated with murals on the walls and old banners whose paintings faded with time. There are many torches with magic blue fire in the entire extension of the walls.

There is a marble floor just after the doors but it ends after about two meters (~6.5 feet), where you can see the beginning of a river made of liquid mercury. There are many small bronze mountains amid the mercury rivers

There is a straight line narrow passage to the center of the chamber where a copper coffin [1] is located in the middle of a ceremonial array made of bronze vessels and other implements.

Looking at the chamber cellar, Ye Yan could see the representation of the night sky with the mains constellations of ancient china. The constellations of the four beats could be seen clearly in this version of the night sky.

Ye Yan entered the chamber but soon after, he jumped back. Just as his body left the chamber, many bolts crossed the place he was before coming from both sides. Luckily, it wasn't from the front or he would be dead.

Seeing this scene, Ye Yan felt cold down his spine. After suffering so much from the booby traps in the mausoleum, he gained an instinctive feeling about traps.

He took a deep breath and tried again, but this time, when he jumped back, nothing happened.

Ye Yan walked inside the chamber, looking at the other side of the chamber, trying to see the far side of it.

Suddenly, the ghost of a potbellied man with luxurious clothes appeared above the coffin, sitting in a leisure manner.

And not far from him, there is the biggest spider he has ever seen in his life. The spider is big but what made it look so big is the hat-looking thing in its superior part.

Ye Yan looked at the scroll to identify the monster.

.

[Eriovixia gryffindori] (Lord)

Description: Also known as Sorting Hat Spider, it came from the mountainous Western Ghats region of the south-western of Maurya Empire in search of new magic sources. This brown spider has the shape of a hat with a curved hat-like tip, and what looks likes the form of a face in the middle, with eyes and mouth.

Level 10

HP: 4.000

.

When Ye Yan saw the monster's description, there was only one thought on his head, "I'm fucked!"

For Ye Yan now, fighting a chieftan monster is already very hard. He does not have confidence in defeat this boss but, no matter if he can kill it or not in the end, he will give it his all.

When Ye Yan was getting ready to fight the boss, he heard a system notification.

System: You have been affected by the curse [Mercury Poisoning].

.

[Mercury Poisoning] (Curse - Level 1)

Description: You inhaled mercury vapor and your body started to suffer from it.

Effect: You will suffer a decrease in your five senses by 5% for every level of the curse. The poisoning will build as long you stay in the mercury zone, increasing the level of the curse every two minutes.

Duration: The effects will gradually disappear after leaving the mercury zone.

Note: When the curse reaches level 10, you will die.

.

"I'm double fucked now!" After seeing the curse, Ye Yan almost when insane, thinking about his bad luck. Not only he will have to defeat a lord-level boss, but he also has to do it in less than 20 minutes, or else, he will die without the boss even hitting him.

Ye Yan took a deep breath to calm down and went to the coffin area. He decided to use the place for him to stay there while throwing his fan at the monsters.

The only thing he has to do is forget the ghost of the potbellied emperor cursing and trying to hit him without success[2]. Ye Yan doesn't have time to waste with the ghost's pitiful attempts to hit him.

After he stood in position, Ye Yan threw his fan to slash the boss. When he saw that it could cut the boss, Ye Yan gave a sigh of relief.

He was afraid of slashing attacks to be ineffective. If it was the case, he would have a very hard time trying to hit the boss.

However, Ye Yan's relief didn't take long because he discovered that he wouldn't be able to stay at the same place for long.

The boss threw a magic web in Ye Yan's direction, which would make him unable to move in case he gets stuck in it.

Ye Yan could only jump on one of the small bronze mountains to evade the magic web.

The bronze mountains were firm and he could walk on them without the risk of fall in the mercury lake. The drawback is that while he stays on the small isles, the mercury poisoning curse builds twice faster, leaving him in a difficult situation.

As he can't stay next to the coffin for long, he can only speed things up.

Ye Yan observed the magic web as noticed that it didn't disappear after touching the ground, which means that if to went there again, he will still be trapped by it.

Ye Yan continued to fight, throwing his fan at the boss again but looking at the coffin's area from time to time to see if the web would disappear while counting the time.

After 10 seconds, it finally disappeared. Seeing this, Ye Yan gave felt that he have a chance to win, even if it is small.

If the web wasn't gone, he wouldn't be able to fight the boss because he wouldn't have a place to stay, and he couldn't be very far because of the range of the weapon.

When Ye Yan started to get a little hope about killing the boss, he saw the hat shine and many light blue balls appeared around it and soon, all of them went in Ye Yan's direction.

........

[1] Some people believe that the coffin of the first emperor of unified China was made of copper. I will use copper coffins in ancient Chinese tombs of emperors from before and after China to be unified.

[2] He was only the emperor of a region, not of the entire China.
