Chapter 37
The moment I checked the rankings, the chat window was instantly flooded with hooks.
Just to be sure, I even jumped into a few broadcasts to check, but the use of viewbots was so blatant that I was left at a loss for words.
“Tsk…”
Should I defend them by saying it’s still a new platform and management might be a bit lax?
But even thinking that, it’s still disappointing. No, it’s especially disappointing because on a new platform like this, stricter management at the beginning could build trust for the streamers to continue their broadcasts.
There were even quite a few streamers who appeared to be using viewbots.
While there were only a few at the very top of the rankings, scrolling down a little revealed numerous broadcasts with a thousand or a few hundred viewers that were suspicious of being viewbotted.
【Kokkiyaho】 – Seriously, the management is awful.
【Whirlwind Flower 2】 – I’ve never seen a platform that lets viewbots be used so openly these days, LOL.
【Next Door Neighbor Hani】 – For real, LOL. At least Twip would crack down on viewbots hard.
As my speaking time dwindled, the viewers began ramping up their criticisms.
【Moscos】 – Exit usually doesn’t curse, but today he’s going all out, LOL.
【That’s it, Cosmo…】 – All streamers who checked the rankings are stunned.
【Hounyangie】 – The host must be feeling so shit right now.
“What do I have to be annoyed about? The ones who suffer directly from this are the top streamers.”
Some viewers were angry about me being mentioned, but honestly, I wasn’t that upset.
In the first place, the people who suffer the most from these viewbots are the top streamers who get the most exposure.
I’m just a streamer with around 300 to 400 viewers at best; even if my ranking drops a bit because of those using viewbots, it doesn’t really impact me.
If the first rank goes from 1st to 5th, and 5th goes to 10th, it might hurt, but going from 100th to 150th doesn’t make a significant difference.
Moreover, the top streamers have all achieved that average of thousands of viewers through long effort and consistent broadcasting.
For them, seeing someone they regard as an equal thanks to some program would surely feel like a betrayal of their hard work.
Especially if such a thing were to happen on a new platform with little credibility, it would be even more infuriating.
“Sigh…”
Though the disappointment is substantial, there’s nothing I can do about it.
Raising my voice here would only spoil the broadcasting atmosphere, and it’s unlikely the platform would pay heed to the opinions of someone like me, a small-time streamer.
It’s best to hope for a quick resolution and for the platform to evolve positively while continuing the broadcasts as usual.
“First, everyone, calm down. I understand your frustration, but it will get better with time. Let’s try to look at it with an open mind since it’s still a new platform.”
With that, I tried to pacify the overheated chat window, speaking with a bitter heart.
In essence, saying such things could be considered clueless behavior. A small-time streamer who hasn’t really been harmed is trying to speak for those who genuinely are.
But that’s all I can say at the moment.
The realization of that made me involuntarily lick my lips as I closed the cheese ranking window.
【Adios Dao】 – The host pretending not to care is just so sad…
【Passing App Dungi】 – Someone’s been struggling for over a year just to get 300 viewers and keeps broadcasting diligently, while some jerk is LOL.
【TWS2425】 – For real, who are they being compared to? LOL.
“I told you, I don’t feel bad about it, okay? I’m just a bit disappointed because it seems like the streamers I enjoy watching will suffer more. For me, it’s enough to just keep broadcasting as usual.”
Honestly, I can’t help but feel angry.
As someone said in the chat, there are those who have been consistently communicating with viewers for over a year without taking breaks unless necessary, while someone else just clicks once and lands into a position I could never reach, it’s natural to feel deprivation.
But I also think about it this way.
After all, those top streamers lack confidence in their broadcasts, don’t have the willpower to work hard like others, and are relying on something immature.
Eventually, they will fall, so there’s no need for me to let their behavior affect my feelings unnecessarily.
“Anyway, let’s drop this talk here; let’s just continue with the scheduled Mahjong broadcast. You all said you wanted to see this.”
【Catfish With Salmon】 – For real, LOL.
【Allfreed】 – Can’t just drop the Mahjong broadcast because of those viewbot scumbags, LOL.
【Soju Flavored Hand Cream】 – Kakiki-yaho~!
【Just Woke Up After Eating】 – Ah, LOL, give it to me!
Fortunately, it seemed the viewers understood my feelings, as they quickly returned to their normal state and refocused on the broadcast.
With a slightly uneasy and disappointed heart, I started up the Mahjong game I had recently begun learning and resumed the broadcast.
As always, I aimed to do my best from my position now.
