Chapter 37- Kei’s origin~2!
About five millennia ago, every being resided as one and enjoyed a peaceful lifestyle without dividing themselves into domains or realms.
From humanity to draconic beings, elven civilization, vampiric nobles, or the beast populace, everyone had some kind of truce that they would only kill those who deserved it and wouldn't follow the typical jungle rule.
Under the blessings of Divine beings and the administration of Dragon King Astroth, all the races prospered and continued living and growing in harmony.
Until that appeared.
No one knows what it was or from which race it belonged, but from the folklore and the words of scribbles left by ancient ones, that being was named, 'Darkness'.
Darkness didn't have any form or race. It was said that Darkness could adapt to any facade or species, depending on his violations.
Darkness seemed to be a disturbed soul since its only purpose in coming out of its sleep was to run amok in the world and destroy the peace, which Astroth had created.
Lust, greed, anger, envy, and many other factors were his main weapon to trigger the desires of the strong and enrage the dormant flames of the weak.
The divine beings couldn't interfere directly with the lower world and Astroth didn't have enough resources to handle everything.
Then a decision was taken.
In order to put Darkness back into slumber, Astroth had to sacrifice himself since Darkness was by every means stronger than anyone residing in the lower realm.
Yes, Darkness was a demi-god existence that couldn't be touched by Gods and couldn't be defeated by anyone weaker than them.
Only Astroth had that much capability to bring a decent battle against the Chaotic being and put a lid over it.
But it was to be expected that Darkness couldn't be contained in its shell forever. Just like in that era, the chaos could commence in the future too.
And what if at that time, no one contains the strength of the Dragon King? What would happen if Darkness completely shadows the plain and brings the world to its end?
With those heaven-defying thoughts, a miracle took place before Astroth's sacrifice against Darkness.
Creation of a counter existence.
The union of Astroth and a specific Goddess who had fallen from her Divinity gave birth to a being that would have the capability to go against Darkness in the future and put an end to this once and for all.
That newborn was something only Astroth and the fallen Goddess knew until Astroth went to rage war against Darkness.
They both knew the Deities wouldn't permit such a child to be born in fear of allowing another Darkness to come into existence.
But there was nothing hidden from the eyes of Greater Gods.
However, rather than stopping the Fallen Goddess, they bless the child nurturing in her womb after they saw how the child's father bravely went to sacrifice himself for others. Or so the people believed.
But that blessing worked as poison and killed the mother with the child still unborn.
Through some mysterious means, the child was taken out of the mother, but he was in a very critical state. A single heavy gust could have killed that pitiful child.
The person who saved the child was fortunately also a woman who knew what to do with the offspring and took him away from all this war and chaos.
The Higher Gods always kept their eyes on the child who grew over millennia and provided blessings for the woman who took charge of providing for the second demi-human in existence.
On the other side, Astroth after a gory war against Darkness for more than three centuries, succeeded to seal the devil away and in the process, also lost himself.
The poor Dragon King didn't even know that his wife, for whom he always blessed his life, had already gone to the other side. And the most saddening truth is that neither of them even saw the face of their child.
_._
"....after the war reached conclusion and Darkness was sealed, the realms were divided by the Gods. The reason was the distrust that Darkness created between the races. Since then despite being in peace all the races sought an opportunity to destroy each other. I bet only few even know until now, why this hate was ever created."
By the time Kei concluded his story both Kaori and Karen had looks that could have made them laugh if looked at some other time.
They had a lot. A whole lot to digest.
But the first thing Kaori asked was the most unsettling part of his story.
"Wait. Wait. Wait. First, tell me something Kei. Where is that child currently?"
There was a strong hunch building inside both women regarding the child who has gone through so many things over such a vast period.
And Kei's following words turned that fear into reality.
"Umm… that child is now standing in front of you both. I might cry if you guys call me gramps tho…
