Agony!
Agony, agony, agony!
Nothing remained but the excruciating pain and the abyssal terror: I'm going to die, I'm about to die. What does death feel like? It certainly won’t be like crossing over to another world. From this moment on, in no world will there ever be someone like me again. Even this very thought, this fear, will vanish like smoke in the wind.
No!
I don’t want to die!
Gao Yang struggled to open the eye being crushed by the tentacles. Before him, something seemed to float.
He saw it clearly—a semi-transparent six-pointed star, emitting a faint golden glow. It spun quietly, as if waiting for someone to reach out and touch it.
Gao Yang didn’t know what it was, but instinct told him this was his final desperate chance.
He mustered all his strength, raising his left hand, inching it towards the six-pointed star suspended in the air.
Almost… almost there.
“Ah!” A surge of intense pain drained all strength from his body, and his left arm fell limp.
“This is humanity, isn’t it? Human blood, human flavor…” Li Weiwei’s voice quivered with excitement, “How exquisite! How perfect!”
Gao Yang’s head, in Li Weiwei’s hand, was like an egg ready to shatter with a squeeze.
She couldn’t bear to break him too soon, so she restrained herself, controlling the force at the brink of crushing her prey’s skull. She wanted to savor the maximum fear and despair of a human’s final struggle.
These emotions were too precious.
She might never have a second chance in her lifetime.
Finally, the climax was near. Li Weiwei’s body trembled violently with ecstasy. “Gao Yang, you’re a good man. I like you… I love you…”
“I want you!”
“Give yourself to me, give me everything!”
The tentacles’ grip slackened momentarily, a prelude to their final thrust.
Gao Yang seized the instant, suddenly raising his hand, hooking his middle finger onto the six-pointed star in the air.

The system vanished.
Everything happened in an instant. The six-pointed star before Gao Yang disappeared, and he still couldn’t do anything. The bitterness surged within him, but hope was gone.
He closed his eyes, awaiting death.
…
Strange! Why am I not dead? Why is the pain subsiding? Why is the force strangling my head gradually weakening?
“Swish—” The tentacles slackened and retreated into Li Weiwei’s arms.
Gao Yang collapsed to the ground, released from the suffocating pain. He clutched his throat, coughing violently, “Cough… cough!!”
He coughed as he looked up.
Li Weiwei’s arms had returned to normal. Her eyes were wide, a bewildered expression on her face, tears welling in her eyes, “Why…?”
Gao Yang’s gaze shifted down from Li Weiwei’s face to her chest, where a crimson stain spread.
Li Weiwei, unwilling to accept her fate, tried to reach out to Gao Yang, “You… are my…”
“Shing—” A narrow Tang sword pierced Li Weiwei’s heart from behind. Her body arched backward like a fish impaled by a harpoon.
“Move aside,” a voice commanded from behind Li Weiwei.
Gao Yang, trembling, stood up, finally seeing it was Qing Ling. She stood behind Li Weiwei, both hands gripping the hilt of the Tang sword, holding a stabbing stance.
“Qing Ling? Why… are you here?”
“Move aside!” Qing Ling repeated coldly.
“Alright…” Gao Yang quickly stepped back.
“Stand behind me,” Qing Ling ordered.
Gao Yang obeyed.
Qing Ling swiftly withdrew her sword. Blood gushed from Li Weiwei’s chest, drenching the ground in a crimson spray.
Gao Yang fought the urge to vomit, then noticed that Qing Ling’s Tang sword remained entirely pristine, not a drop of blood staining its silver blade.
He watched in awe as Qing Ling grasped the black hilt with one hand, while her slender index finger traced the blade. With a gentle swipe along its edge, the nearly 150cm long Tang sword vanished, as though folded into another dimension.
Gao Yang was stunned.
Was this magic? Sorcery? Or some kind of supernatural ability?
Qing Ling didn’t even glance at Gao Yang, “Don’t ask anything. Go home immediately. I’ve destroyed the surveillance nearby. None of this is connected to you.”
“But…”
“You know nothing. Say it,” Qing Ling’s gaze was sharp as a blade.
“I… know nothing.”
“Again.”
“I know nothing.”
“Again.”
“I know nothing.”
