Chapter 37 – Their faces were identical. How could anyone tell them apart? (1)
Ye Zhen felt as if a lighting bolt struck her when she heard the words, “Your older sister is back.”
There was a tremble in her voice from excitement, “You said that Ye Qing is back?”
Mother Ye’s gaze went towards the top of the stairs. Ye Zhen followed her gaze. There was a woman standing there. Because of the distance, she didn’t get a clear look on the woman, who was quickly walking towards them, until she came closer.
She was a lovely, stylish, and leisurely young woman. Her skin looked as tender and soft as water. As she walked over to them, her chin was slightly raised upwards. She looked very prideful and had a wealthy young lady’s demeanor. A single look would be enough to tell that she had an excellent upbringing.
In the novel, Ye Qing had been a prideful, astute, and capable person. Since childhood, she had always been praised by other people. As a capable person, who had a beautiful appearance as well as a good family background, she had always been very popular and the center of attention.
Lin Zhan wasn’t her first boyfriend, but he had been the one that she had been willing to give up everything for.
A lot of space was used up in the novel to describe Ye Qing and Lin Zhan’s unwavering love for each other. Regardless of pressure from family or society, poverty, and schemes, nothing was able to seperate them,
They had such a strong love in the novel. Shouldn’t Ye Qing continue to resist the secular prejudice?
And, according to the timeline in the novel, Ye Qing should be coming back later.
What happened to cause this change?
The corners of Ye Qing’s eyes were red. She sat down next to Ye Zhen and intimately held her hand. Speaking in extremely regretful and choked up voice, she said, “Zhenzhen, it’s older sister’s fault that you suffered during the past period.”
It felt as if that close identical face was infinitely magnified. Guilt and distress mixed together in the stream of hot tears and made her emotions seem genuine.
A person could fake their expressions, but the emotion in one’s eyes couldn’t be faked.
In those eyes that were like clear springs, Ye Zhen noticed a trace of eagerness and impatience.
Ye Zhen immediately calmed down completely.
“Why did you come back? Where’s Lin Zhan?”
Mother Ye was unhappy to hear Ye Zhen asking these questions. Furrowing her brow, she sternly berated, “Ye Zhen, since your older sister is back, don’t mention that matter. What’s wrong with you? Are you hoping that your sister doesn’t come home and continues to suffer?”
Ye Zhen kept silent.
How could Mother Ye say those words? If the original Ye Zhen only silently stewed in her feelings, then there could only be death.
Actually, there were many times when Mother Ye favored Ye Qing over her other daughter without noticing. This injustice had long taken root in the original Ye Zhen’s heart. In the original Ye Zhen’s family, education was very important. Because the original Ye Zhen’s aptitude was average, her parents had given up on her. They raised her, but they didn’t educated her in social manners and rules. The original Ye Zhen’s envy and indignation accumulated over a long time, so there was already a precedent to her behavior, and she grew up to have a totally dark heart.
Once the original Ye Zhen had been forced to take Ye Qing’s place in marrying a comatose person, she erupted in silent anger.
The original Ye Zhen had a realistic understanding of how her parents and her sister viewed her. After hiding these emotions for over twenty years, the original Ye Zhen had attempted at getting revenge against these people without fear of the consequences.
However, the original Ye Zhen hadn’t retaliated directly on Mother Ye, who was the one that directly harmed her. Instead, she had regard Ye Qing, who had been able to freely pursue true love, as the nail in her eye.
For example, if two people had been kidnapped. One person was beaten up, and the other person was given preferential treatment in front of the beaten up person. The beaten up person’s hatred for the person that had been given preferential treatment would be greater than the beaten up person’s hatred of the kidnapper.
The unfairness had caused the novel’s Ye Zhen to gradually lose her sanity as she redirected her anger and lash out at Ye Qing.
However, the Ye Family was already in dire straits, how could Mother Ye still talk to her in that sort of tone?
Ye Zhen’s silence immediately caused the mood in the room to become awkward.
Ye Qing immediately laughed a bit. Holding Ye Zhen’s hand and with tears in her eyes, she forced herself to smile. “Zhenzhen, what happened in the past was because older sister wasn’t sensible and let love muddle my mind. I treated love as the truth and harmed the people that are genuinely good to me. I know that what I did was wrong, that’s why I came back to atone.”
