I am currently waiting in my room. Sylvia is here with me and father has already arrived in the house. I wait here as father has expressed disdain in being welcomed back. I can clearly see that Sylvia is visibly nervous but I choose to ignore her for now as I wait. It would not take long as I hear a knock on the door. I signal Sylvia to open it and head maid enters.
“Master has summoned you for the meal.”
A meal. A typical meeting with father. I try to search my memories but father has never brought me into his office or anywhere similar. An unfortunate scenario as I cannot see if I can find more about his clandestine activities. Regardless, we walk towards the dining room. As I enter, I see father and that woman for some time now. As before, I expressly sit beside the woman and I see her visibly flinch. Sylvia stands behind me as our meal begins. There is silence for a while until father finally spoke.
“Sylvia, I have a task for you.”
“What is it, father?”
“There is a operation to extract the merchandise from five different locations. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I require strict procedures for this operation. I have decided to entrust this to you.”
“Truly? You would entrust such a task to me?”
“Make sure to bring your tool with you. Make sure that you and the merchandise return properly.”
“Of course, father.”
“Instructions will be handed to you on site.”
“I understand.”
Father stops talking and silence returns once more but I do not let it stay for long.
“Father.”
“What is it?”
“What are these unfortunate circumstances that you have mentioned?”
Father’s eyebrows scrunch up as he apparently remembers something unpleasant.
“Some members of my company have been attacked by an assailant.”
“Oh? An assailant, you say? Is it a criminal? A celebrity? A social justice warrior?”
“No. It is a child.”
“A child?”
“I do not believe it as well but there has only been one who survived long enough to tell. It seems that there is a child that has been attacking bandits. None of my people can confirm this as every time we find a group. There is no traces nor survivors.”
There was no mention of this in the game but this part was never fully shown. So, this may have been happening behind the scenes.
“This is why you must bring your tool with you. If you do encounter this “child”, make sure to kill them and whoever they are working with.”
“Of course, father. I understand.”
“That said, I do not believe that you will be meeting this child on this adventure. Judging from the destroyed groups, they are operating from a different direction from where you will be heading. From the movements of other parties, you will not encounter any obstacles in your operation. Make sure that you do a thorough job to minimize the risks of a leak.”
“Yes, father.”
“Good.”
We continue the meal and finally finish. But before we leave, there is something I must request.
“Father.”
Father does not reply and looks towards me as we stand up.
“I would like to spend some time with mother again. Just like last time.”
Father looks at that woman and she has not raised her head after we glanced at each other upon my entry.
“You shall have time tomorrow. For now, she will be busy.”
“Of course, father. I understand.”
Father walks towards the door and glances back to me.
“Make sure to dispose of those loose ends before you leave.”
I do not answer as he leaves. Yes, I know. I walk back towards my room as Sylvia follows.
“Mistress.”
We have returned to my room as Sylvia calls out to me. A rare occurrence.
“What is it, Sylvia?”
“There are some things in that conversation that I did not understand.”
“Yes. I suppose you may have some questions but I will not answer you.”
Sylvia stays silent to my reply. I see her eyes widen in surprise.
“For now, what I want you to do is to watch. No matter what happens, do not act without my permission. Be grateful that I will be showing you a part of this family.”
Sylvia stays silent.
“Leave, Sylvia. I wish to be alone.”
Sylvia bows and leaves the room. Before leaving, I do need to dispose of some loose ends lying around here. The real question is how? It was never revealed on what happened so I do not have a basis on what I should do. Then, how about leaving it to chance? It would be most exciting to see what potentials it could have. Yes, that is the plan for those loose ends. I lay down on my bed as I think back on what would happen.
“I wonder what she is doing?”
In the game, the prince and the commoner had different activities during this time. The prince would spend most of the time in the castle. There were some romance partners available but most of the time is spent on improving your stats. The commoner works the same but she stays in the school for the whole break. From the people around us, Juliet should be the only one with her right now.
“We are all in different places.”
Melanie should be with her father while Blanche is in her home. This would be a boring month all things considered. It would all be full of boring things. Nothing interesting would happen. Father has already assured me that no one of high renown would be around. So, unexpected circumstances have a low chance of occurring. Nonetheless, I shall make sure that everything goes smoothly. I have an inkling as to why I am instructed by father but I will wait until I can confirm it myself. For now, what I need to know is what that woman would choose to do. Will she choose father or me?
