I Don’t Want to be a Villainess

Chapter 248

“Hospitalization…?”

I exclaimed in utter shock.

Honestly, I’ve never learned any acting techniques, so I really can’t tell if my performance is any good. But I’m doing my best, you know?

And, in truth, unless you realize that the other person is acting—like you’re watching a drama or movie on TV, or you already think, “That person is definitely lying!”—you usually don’t see through someone’s act. There are just so many people in the world, each with their own unique way of speaking and expressing themselves.

Right at this moment, you have cases like Ha Neul, whose expressions are incredibly varied, and Yang Hye-in, whose face looks almost perpetually blank.

“Compulsory hospitalization? That’s nonsense! I’m perfectly normal! The doctor has been seeing me regularly and confirmed that!”

“Ah, but the patient…”

I may not be able to judge my acting from an objective standpoint, but at least this ‘doctor,’ aka the young detective in disguise, was convincingly playing his part.

Or maybe he was genuinely flustered. Well, either way, it doesn’t matter. As long as others realize I don’t understand the situation properly, that’s enough for me.

“Um, well, the patient’s relatives have already consented. And while Ye Sara’s symptoms aren’t exactly positive, we have determined that her hospitalization is necessary—ugh!”

As I grabbed him by the collar, he instinctively leaned toward me. I was surprised at how easily he complied, but thinking back, it seems like he intentionally bent forward. After all, with such a size difference, he wouldn’t normally be so easily pulled along.

“Se-security team! Please call the security team!”

Surprisingly, I thought this person might really have dreams of being an actor. To be honest, I could see through the act, but judging by the murmurs around, it didn’t seem like it was overly obvious.

A thin voice from one of the nurses cut through. She was someone who didn’t know we were acting. The higher-ups in the hospital, like the director or some executives, had already been informed about the situation, but most of the medical staff were oblivious.

Plus, the medical staff knew what my face looked like. The reason I deliberately chose to go to such a secluded hospital was that I ‘didn’t want anyone to find out.’

So, at this moment, I’m betting that the ‘newly arrived doctor’ really looked like he was in a tricky position… not exactly dangerous, but still precarious.

I could hear a nurse shouting, and not long after, I heard heavy footsteps approaching. A few burly men in navy suits, and two young women, were coming toward us. Judging by the earpieces in one ear, they looked like the security team.

…And it seemed like they were all police officers too.

Well, maybe not all, but considering that they could have a few security team members or cleaners thrown in, at least one of them was probably mixed in.

“Uh, excuse me, patient, if you keep doing this—”

I guess since I looked like a teenage girl, it was the woman who spoke up. Despite looking like she was about the same age as Yang Hye-in, she reached out to me, but—

“……”

Yang Hye-in moved to the side, blocking me from her view. The woman halted, startled.

…Huh?

Um, we didn’t discuss this scenario while planning earlier!

I was so startled that I let go of the ‘doctor’s’ collar. He looked a little taken aback by my action but quickly averted his gaze, surprised.

I could only see Yang Hye-in’s back, so I couldn’t tell what kind of expression she had, and the disheveled detective probably couldn’t see it from his angle either. But, as if by professional instinct, he seemed to sense something just by looking at Yang Hye-in’s back.

“……”

Even Ha Neul, Sohee, and Sua, who watched from the side, looked visibly shocked.

What’s going on?

Feeling a bit anxious, I hurried over to Yang Hye-in’s side. Everyone’s attention was fixed on Yang Hye-in, so not many were paying much attention to me.

Even the security team, which had seen its fair share of chaotic hospital incidents, looked pale.

Ah, now I can tell who’s a detective and who’s a security team member.

While they were all wearing the same uniform, the ones who stepped back with pale faces were clearly from the security team, while those who were on alert and cautiously extending their hands were likely undercover police.

“Guardian? Please calm down for a moment…”

As they approached, the woman who looked like a police officer raised her voice, and I was taken aback when I emerged slightly to see what was going on with Yang Hye-in.

“Ah…!”

The hem of my dress that she was lightly holding swung to the side, pulling me a bit forward.

Someone’s hand gently landed on my shoulder, and when I looked up, it turned out to be Yang Hye-in, who had just turned away.

She smiled softly, as though she had just shed her earlier menacing demeanor, and said, “Well then, please take care of yourself, milady.”

This is scary…

Right? It really is frightening.

Even that smile looks terrifying!
