Chapter 103: Raid(SHADOW LEG-Ok, I’ll stop) Planning
__________ POV Beru__________
"So... What exactly is the plan here?" Asked the ninja while looking at the location of the raid.
Apparently, the Meta Liberation Army has built an entire city as their headquarters. 'Deika City' Is the name. Well, it's a relatively small city, as only around 20000 people live in it. Out of which, 15000 are all soldiers in this army.
It's honestly a bit strange to hear about this. I didn't think that this organisation would be this big. How exactly did something like this fly under the radar?
Well, I guess it's a city built in a mountain range. And to outsiders, it's a completely normal city. But still.
"Well, the enemy we're facing has much larger numbers than what we can realistically mobilize... We plan to split you all up into groups and infiltrate the city to take out the top brass. Or the leaders." Naomasa showed us some images of the leaders.
It seems that none of them really have some secret identity.
The leader, a is called Re-Destro, apparently, after some other villain, I don't really know much about. He's actually the CEO of Detnerat, a company that produces lifestyle support items.
There's also a blue-skinned woman her villain name is Curious, she's a reporter apparently. One of them is a politician, Trumpet is his name. And the other is also the owner of some other company, Feel Good Inc, the name sounds familiar... Anyway, his villain name is Skeptic.
"We know for a fact that these four are leaders of the Army, they should be the ones that we have to watch out for the most... But there have been some powerful recruits recently..." Then he showed some photos of the clones.
He still didn't have the name for many of the newer recruits. And it's understandable, it's already a miracle that they got this much information out of that Geten guy.
"Currently, we're struggling to find a way to amass more people to help in this raid. The people at this table are all going to be leading a team..." Naomasa said while looking at everyone here.
I think most of the heroes that are in the top 10 are here. But I can't be too sure. I'm not exactly a hero nerd.
To this day, Spider-Man is still a more familiar hero name to me than all of the people in this room...
I could hear a Tsk from my side when the talk of leading teams was brought up. "What's the use of a team? They're only going to drag me down..." Mirko really doesn't like working with others huh?
"The situation isn't the type that allows for such flexibility... Even you might be in danger if you are swarmed by thousands of villains at once." Naomasa's words managed to calm her down... But now I want to complain since it seems fun to do.
"What about me though?~," I said as I raised my arm, almost like I'm in school all over again. 'Can I go to the toilet teacher?' That is what I was about to say. But my actual words will be:
"I can take care of myself...~" I don't really want to brag and say that even if the entire army attacks me all at once, they probably wouldn't even be able to scratch my exoskeleton.
I mean, it would be the truth, but it still sounds like bragging for some reason.
"We are aware of your strength, but we are afraid that there would be too many casualties if we just send you... This way, you are more inclined to hold back." Well, I can't really argue with that.
If killing all villains was acceptable they'd probably just send me and Endeavor in and tell us to go ham. But this would result in a massacre that could potentially shake the country.
It's really not a good look for heroes in general. Well, at that point, there would definitely be protests about unjust killings or something...
"Well, I guess that's true enough~," I said as I put my arm down. Mirko at the side just stared at me with a raised eyebrow.
"But I ain't really the leading type~ I prefer laying back and just listening most times...~" Now that I think about it, this seems like a lie considering how much I've been manipulating people and scheming.
But I genuinely hate leading positions. I remember that I was once told to lead some group of people within the gang back in the day. I ended up just assigning one of them as my right-hand man and letting him do everything...
Should I do this now too? Nah, that would be pretty chaotic to do in the middle of the mission.
"Well... That's a bit problematic..." Oh, I also forgot about this, but I have 0 education about this hero business. So I probably wouldn't even be a good leader, to begin with.
I can't say that out loud, because it would be pretty dumb to say considering my fake background. But this fact just further solidifies my laziness and unwillingness to lead.
"How about this... Beru, you can join a team and I will split the responsibilities and members of your team with the others." Naomasa seems to still be pretty flexible. I guess that as long as I am in a team, it doesn't matter much.
"Which team is going to be in the front, fighting villains?~" I obviously still want some action. I'm just not willing to work hard enough to lead people.
I mean, for me, fighting is the easiest thing to do. It's also pretty boring to do. It's kinda like cheating on a game, it ruins the fun and leaves you feeling quite empty at the end.
"That would be the Assault team. They would be tasked with attracting the attention of the army while the infiltration team deals with the leaders." Meh, that's good enough for me.
"Great~ I'll join that~" Naomasa just smiled a bit when hearing me.
"Well then, your leader will be Mirko. Do try to get along." Fuck. I kinda wanted to go all giant on them... But I guess I have a few other quirks to scare and fight them with...
"What! I already told you all that I don't want a team! And now you give me one more member? He's also a brat to top it all off..." Damn, Mirko is really mad today, her ears are all raised and everything.
"Chill~ We can always just compete on kil-captures...~" I could feel Naomasa's gaze on me when I verbally slipped up there.
What can I say, I do see this situation as a video game at this point. Maybe because the numbers are a bit unrealistic?
"Hmph! Just don't drag me down..." I won't even bother responding to this.
Endeavor just looked at me with a bit of pity. I guess the guy feels bad for me because I picked the leader with the worst temper?
He's part of the flanking team, which will help the assault team then split off from them to aid the infiltration team.
The infiltration team is lead by the ninja, there are also a few more teams for support and sabotage.
Overall, this whole ordeal is a lot more planned out than I thought it would be. I mean, I doubt it's even been two days since they got all of the information on the Meta Liberation Army...
So, the raid is to be carried out tonight. And, I gotta say, I'm a bit excited about it.
It's been a while since I've been in a large fight(against something else other than clones). I may not be obsessed with fighting anymore, but it's still fun from time to time.
__________ POV Narration__________
While the raid finished being planned out. Re-Destro also started making his move.
Not physically of course. He still didn't know about the attack, nor did he have any option besides increasing his defences.
Instead, he decided to start rapidly trying to spread the ideals of the Meta Liberation Army. It was a bit of a desperate effort.
Paying and contacting journalists and trying his best to recruit some new people at the last minute.
But he also decided to do something else. Since this was the last stand of the army, he was going to use all of his ammunition.
He contacted a few more famous publications anonymously and sent them all the recordings of Beru torturing and mocking the villain called Stain.
Unfortunately, Stain had survived, but the shock value was still there, even without the knowledge of the villain's death.
Still, the spreading of that video needed to happen quickly, so Re-Destro sent it to all of the media sites and news stations possible.
He needed that video publicized as soon as possible.
And, he succeeded. After an hour, there were already articles written about it. The video was even censored and publicized.
Overall, it was an odd way to start the fight. But it still marked the beginning. The last stand of the Meta Liberation Army started with an unconventional attack.
